Ch. 21Three Who Drew Every Eye

After completing their first mission, Chinatsu, Tanjiro, and Nezuko ate at a roadside noodle stall and stayed at an inn for the night. As Chinatsu considered how little her strength had grown, she worried she would be unable to prevent the Flame Hashira's death in the future.

  • Chinatsu, Tanjiro, and Nezuko drew attention as they walked through town and celebrated their mission with noodles.
  • The stall owner warned Chinatsu and Tanjiro that women had been disappearing at night, and Chinatsu said the disappearances would end the next day.
  • After the stall owner mistook Tanjiro for Chinatsu's boyfriend, Tanjiro clarified that she was his older sister, and Chinatsu left the stall annoyed.
  • Chinatsu and Nezuko shared an inn room while Tanjiro stayed in another; Nezuko tried to practice before falling asleep.
  • Chinatsu reflected on the strength gap between the Demon Slayer ranks and wondered whether she could save the Flame Hashira from Upper Rank Three.

Ch. 22Chinatsu's Yearning for a Breakthrough

Chinatsu considered how to unlock the Transparent World or the Bright Red Nichirin Sword so she could become strong enough to save the Flame Hashira, but her first attempt at entering the Transparent World ended with her falling asleep. After Nezuko styled her hair and the group prepared to leave the inn, a crow waited anxiously outside for Chinatsu and Tanjiro.

  • Chinatsu weighed the three combat enhancements and decided the Transparent World could counter Akaza's Compass Needle, but she fell asleep while trying to awaken it.
  • Chinatsu concluded that she would keep practicing Hinokami Kagura and sparring with Tanjiro, then seek a Pillar to help her unlock a Bright Red Nichirin Sword.
  • Nezuko braided Chinatsu's hair into a side ponytail, and Chinatsu accepted the hairstyle despite its ominous reputation.
  • Chinatsu and Tanjiro left their room with Nezuko and her wooden box, and the inn receptionist mistook Tanjiro for Chinatsu's younger brother.
  • A black crow waited outside the inn, anxiously wondering why Chinatsu and Tanjiro had not come out.

Ch. 23Tamayo and Yushiro

Chinatsu and Tanjiro followed a demon’s scent through Asakusa and met Tamayo and Yushiro at a pharmacy. Tamayo invited them to her residence and revealed that she and Yushiro had escaped Muzan’s control and were searching for a way to defeat him.

Ch. 24Tanjiro, calm down!

Chinatsu told Tamayo and Yushiro about the Kamado family's slaughter, and the group became allies in their efforts against Muzan. When Tanjiro sensed Muzan nearby, Chinatsu stopped him from rushing into a fight he could not win, then awkwardly described Muzan as “Michael... Jackson.”

  • Tamayo explained how she and Yushiro survived on donated blood, and Chinatsu recounted the tragedy that befell the Kamado family.
  • Tamayo asked Chinatsu and Nezuko for blood samples to study, and Chinatsu agreed while Tanjiro promised to help collect blood from powerful demons.
  • Tanjiro smelled Muzan and sprang up, but Chinatsu caught his shoulder and warned him not to attack before he was strong enough.
  • Tanjiro calmed down and acknowledged that he could not yet defeat Muzan, then asked Chinatsu what Muzan looked like.
  • Chinatsu blurted out “Michael... Jackson,” confusing Tamayo, Yushiro, and Tanjiro.

Ch. 25Beheading the Two Demons

Chinatsu and Tanjiro tracked down Muzan’s attendants, Susamaru and Yahaba, and began fighting them. Chinatsu beheaded Susamaru with Hinokami Kagura, while Yahaba remained in the battle.

  • Tanjiro sensed ordinary demons nearby, and he and Chinatsu left Nezuko in Tamayo’s care before rushing to investigate.
  • Chinatsu and Tanjiro found Susamaru and Yahaba eating humans and nearly severed both demons’ necks with a surprise attack.
  • Susamaru sprouted extra arms and hurled temari balls at the Demon Slayers while Yahaba controlled their trajectories with invisible arrows.
  • Chinatsu used Hinokami Kagura: Mirage Sun Rainbow to evade the temari balls and behead Susamaru.

Ch. 26Muzan scared out of his wits

Chinatsu and Tanjiro killed Susamaru and Yahaba, and Muzan discovered a mark left by Chinatsu’s Hinokami Kagura that reminded him of Yoriichi Tsugikuni. Terrified that Yoriichi had a successor, Muzan summoned all the Upper Ranks to the Infinity Castle.

Ch. 27Emergency Meeting

Muzan ordered the demons to hunt anyone with hanafuda earrings and a red-and-black Nichirin Blade, frightening Kokushibo. Chinatsu and Tanjiro left Tamayo's mansion for the Drum Mansion and encountered Zenitsu Agatsuma, who immediately begged Chinatsu to date him.

Ch. 28Zenitsu and the Boar's Head Boy

  • Chinatsu refused Zenitsu’s advances, and Zenitsu recognized her and Tanjiro from the Final Selection.
  • Tanjiro understood Zenitsu’s Little Sparrow and learned that Zenitsu was heading to slay the same demon as they were.
  • The three arrived at a mansion, where Tanjiro sensed a powerful demon inside and Chinatsu went in alone while he stayed to protect two children.
  • Chinatsu used Water Breathing, Tenth Form: Constant Flux, to smash through the mansion’s walls and search for the demon.
  • A boy wearing a boar’s head mask watched a water dragon burst through the walls and wondered what he had just seen.

Ch. 29A shock Boar's Head would remember for a hundred years

  • The boar-headed boy challenged Chinatsu with his twin notched Nichirin Blades and attacked with Beast Breathing, Second Fang: Slice; Chinatsu drew her sword and slashed back.

Ch. 30Big Sis

Chinatsu defeated the boar-masked Inosuke, who accepted her as his Big Sis and asked her to teach him. After the group shared a meal with the boys they had rescued, Chinatsu told one boy not to join the Demon Slayer Corps because she believed the age of demons would soon end.

  • Chinatsu overpowered the Boar's Head Boy and made him admit defeat.

  • The rescued boys learned about the Demon Slayer Corps, and one boy asked if he could join.
  • Chinatsu told the boy not to join, saying demons would soon be gone.

Ch. 31Both of Them Were Stunned

Chinatsu trained Nezuko while Tanjiro revealed that he and his sister could maintain Total Concentration Breathing all day, prompting Zenitsu and Inosuke to try learning it. The group left for Mount Natagumo, their next mission and the last dungeon before the death dungeon.

  • The boy who had considered joining the Demon Slayer Corps gave up and said he would pray for Tanjiro and the others.
  • Chinatsu taught Nezuko Water Breathing and swordsmanship while Tanjiro slept beside Zenitsu and Inosuke.

  • Chinatsu closed her eyes and stayed put as Rui's threads rushed toward her, hoping the attack would help her approach the Transparent World.

Ch. 34Chinatsu vs. Rui

Chinatsu’s attempt to awaken the Transparent World failed as her beast instinct repeatedly helped her evade Rui’s attacks. She accepted that the two abilities conflicted and charged into a fierce battle with Rui, while Tanjiro and Zenitsu tried to reach her and were confronted by a demon.

  • Chinatsu dodged Rui’s spider threads with her beast instinct, and Inosuke recognized her movements as those of a wild beast.
  • Chinatsu concluded that her sharpened senses and the Transparent World conflicted, then stopped trying to suppress her instincts.

Ch. 35Destroyer of Demons

Tanjiro and Nezuko fought Rui’s demon family on Spider Mountain while Chinatsu kept Rui on the defensive. The Demon Slayer Corps sent Giyu Tomioka and Shinobu Kocho as reinforcements, but Chinatsu’s battle with Rui remained unresolved.

  • Spider Father struck Tanjiro, but Tanjiro blocked the powerful punch with his Nichirin Blade.

  • Sanemi Shinazugawa confronted Nezuko, and Chinatsu sent her back into her wooden box as dawn approached.
  • Chinatsu, Tanjiro, and the Pillars greeted Oyakata-sama, who said the former and current Water Hashira had pledged their lives for Nezuko.

  • Oyakata-sama told Sanemi to use only his blood as a temptation, and Tanjiro placed Nezuko's box inside the building.
  • Nezuko resisted the blood dripping onto her face, astonishing the Pillars, while Chinatsu noticed that she was salivating too.

Ch. 39Pillar Appointment

After Shinazugawa accepted Nezuko, Oyakata-sama appointed Chinatsu as the Demon Slayer Corps’ tenth Pillar for defeating Lower Rank Five. Chinatsu postponed choosing a title and settled into her new residence, where she planned to prepare for the Mugen Train arc and save the Flame Hashira.
