A few seconds later, footsteps sounded outside the Main Hall. Guards and soldiers soon surrounded it, with several men who appeared to be captains kneeling on one knee at the front, just outside the hall.
"Your Majesty!"
The middle-aged man's startled expression grew somewhat calmer. He waved a hand, and the men before him exchanged glances before saluting with clasped fists and spreading out into two rows, their gazes still vigilant.
"Come in."
Upon receiving permission, one of the men at the entrance stepped into the hall and stopped in front of the two rows. Kneeling on one knee, he clasped his fists toward the middle-aged man and said:
"Your Majesty, His Highness has been alarmed."
The middle-aged man waved a hand. "What happened?"
The man dipped his head slightly. "The disturbance originated at the White Tiger Duke's Mansion. An enemy appears to have come to cause trouble, disturbing Your Majesty in the process. The city is already in an uproar. Shall I take some men to maintain order and apprehend the offender?"
A trace of astonishment immediately appeared on the middle-aged man's face. Someone actually dared to come to Star Luo City and pick a fight with the White Tiger Duke's Mansion? That took some serious nerve.
"Divide into two groups. One will suppress the news, and the other will maintain order." With that, he slowly rose and headed straight for the palace elevator to one side.
The man hastily acknowledged the order with deference, then hurried away with his men, leaving a portion of them to continue guarding the Main Hall.
The men who had originally stood in two rows beside the throne froze for a moment before hastily following. Rather than riding the elevator with the middle-aged man, however, they all took the stairs beside it.
