The weather was fine and sunny as Fang Bai made his fourth trip to T City to purchase used televisions.
The televisions in the rental house would be fully repaired in another three or four days. His monthly exam was coming up in a few days, so he had to go buy stock in advance.
This time, Zhang Guoping, the veteran driver he had worked with three times before, was out on a delivery run and not in T City. The State-Owned Fleet assigned him a different driver.
Fang Bai did not mind. Following his usual routine, he hired some movers and headed to Yaming Electronics Recycling Company.
After several purchases, he had become familiar with Chen Ming, Yaming Company's business manager. However, Chen Ming was not important enough to count as part of his network.
Though Chen Ming did not count as a network contact, Fang Bai could still use him as a stepping stone to reach higher-level connections. Fang Bai did not want to miss such an opportunity; building a network was far too difficult.
Moreover, Yaming Company's upper management could get their hands on firsthand foreign electronic scrap. They undoubtedly had deep backgrounds and connections that he knew nothing about.
Even without the Golden Finger, Fang Bai wanted to accumulate more connections. They might come in handy someday.
A network was a web of relationships. If one person could not help, perhaps a friend of a friend could.
After selecting the televisions, weighing them, and having them moved, Fang Bai paid 22,530 yuan for the goods and found Chen Ming, the business manager.
"Manager Chen, I greatly admire your company's upper management. Could you introduce me to them? I just want to make their acquaintance."
The other man fell silent for a moment, then
