"Brother! Are we really not keeping those two women?"
"Things are too hot! We can't keep them! One each-we'll have our fun, then bury them! Just don't screw it up!"
"Hehe! You got it!"
When Song Ning woke, she caught an unfamiliar conversation outside, followed by the sound of a lock opening.
An unfamiliar face loomed before her.
A girl of seventeen or eighteen, her face smeared with blood, was shaking her shoulder in panic.
"Sis! You're awake! We-we're going to die! They're going to kill us!"
Song Ning glanced at the girl, then quickly surveyed her surroundings-
Crumbling earthen walls and a battered oil lamp with a flame the size of a soybean, illuminating a small, damp, shabby room.
For a moment, she was bewildered. Where am I?
She had been in a car accident. She had been on her way to a blind date-
My phone!
Where's my phone?!
She hurriedly sat up and searched around her, but found nothing except straw.
A sharp pain shot through her head. She clutched it with both hands and nearly passed out...
"Sis! Don't-don't faint! Those other two were sold too! We're the only ones left! I'm scared..." The girl's voice was already breaking into sobs.
Before she could finish, the wooden door in the corner creaked open.
The girl sprang up in fright and huddled in the corner with Song Ning.
Two sleazy-looking men appeared in the doorway, one with long bangs and the other with a thin mustache.
Both seemed taken aback at the sight of Song Ning-
"Well, look at that! This chick actually pulled through! She was practically breathing her last this afternoon!" said the man with the mustache.
"Brother, then should we..." The man with the long bangs rubbed his hands together.
The mustached man grinned viciously. "What are you waiting for? Get down to business!"
"You got it!" The man with the long bangs grabbed the girl beside Song Ning and dragged her out.
"Let go-let go of me-please spare me!" Her screams and sobs faded into the distance...
The mustached man crouched in front of Song Ning, his lecherous gaze roaming over her face.
"Tsk! What a waste of a pretty face, being such a sickly little thing! Well, let me have some fun, and you won't go to waste!"
The pain in Song Ning's head had just eased when the mustached man hauled her up with a lewd grin.
She did not resist. Using his upward pull, she bent her knee and drove it hard into his crotch-
He was completely unprepared. He had never imagined that this sickly girl, who had run a high fever from fright throughout the journey, would dare pull something like this when she was practically at death's door!
With a hoarse, strangled scream, he let go and rolled on the ground, clutching his crotch.
Song Ning did not hesitate. Her feet flew, kicking his vulnerable spots again and again. Every kick landed.
At first, he still screamed. As she kept kicking, his cries gradually died away.
Still wary, Song Ning delivered one last vicious kick to his crotch.
The mustached man could no longer make a sound. His body merely jerked and curled into a ball, like a hairless hedgehog.
Only after she was sure he would not be able to attack her anytime soon did Song Ning hurry to pull open the wooden door.
Outside, it was pitch-black, with only a few scattered lights barely visible in the distance.
She needed little time to get her bearings and headed toward the faint cries-
The door of a nearby earthen house stood wide open. Beside an oil lamp, the man with the long bangs had already stripped off the girl's outer clothes and was slapping her face repeatedly...
"Cry! Go on, cry! The more you cry, the more it turns me on!"
Song Ning pulled the thickest piece of wood from the firewood pile outside the door, rushed in without hesitation, and smashed it against the back of his head.
One blow silenced him, and he crumpled to the floor.
Still wary, Song Ning stepped forward and struck him hard twice more before throwing aside the wood and pulling the girl out from beneath him.
The girl stared blankly. Her already injured cheeks were now a bloody mess, a horrifying sight.
Song Ning gently patted her shoulder while looking around warily and whispered:
"We have to find a way to escape as soon as possible!"
The girl looked up, sobbing. "Sis! I-I'll do whatever you say!"
Song Ning nudged the man with the long bangs with her foot. He did not respond.
She felt around his lower back and found a flashlight, then took the box of matches beside the oil lamp and led the girl outside.
This village lay deep in the mountains.
According to the memories Song Ning had just received, the traffickers had led them into the mountains for at least six days.
Yes, Song Ning had already sorted out her memories.
She had been running her own private hospital and enjoying recognition as an "outstanding young achiever," only to get into a car accident on her way to a blind date. Then she had woken up in the body of a girl with the same name in the seventies...
As for this girl's background-
Put simply, her parents were dead, her older brother was dim-witted, her uncle and aunt abused her, and her cousins bullied her. She had swallowed every indignity and worked herself to the bone...
Her grandfather, the only person who loved her, had arranged a marriage for her. He had said that once she turned eighteen, the man would come to the village to marry her.
But her grandfather had died. She was already twenty this year, yet there had still been no sign of the man.
Her aunt mocked her for daydreaming and wanted her to become the second wife of the town mayor's intellectually disabled brother, who was in his forties, so they could use the bride price to find a wife for her younger male cousin.
The man had been intellectually disabled since birth and would drop his trousers whenever he saw a woman. The mayor's family had previously arranged a wife for him, but she had gone mad within a year-supposedly from the torment he inflicted on her.
The girl did not want to suffer the same fate. Summoning every scrap of courage she had ever possessed, she had escaped the day before the wedding.
Carrying the address her grandfather had left her, she had set off to find her "future husband." He was her only way out, and the sole hope that had kept her alive all these years!
Unfortunately, the traffickers had marked her the moment she boarded the train!
Having no experience of traveling alone, she and six other abducted girls had been taken deep into the mountains by these traffickers.
Terror had made her ill, and her high fever would not break. She had died in a haze, leaving Song Ning to take her place here.
The other girls had all been "sold off" along the way. Only this sickly girl and the girl with the injured face, named Lan Ying, had remained as "unsold goods" that had to be "disposed of"!
Song Ning had no time to think further. Their situation was grim; she had to stay alive before worrying about anything else...
Holding Lan Ying's hand, she carefully skirted the house and ran farther into the village.
They did not have much time left.
After winding this way and that along the village paths, Song Ning chose a courtyard wall and climbed over it.
Inside stood what appeared to be the largest earthen house in the area.
She quietly crept to the pigpen and struck a match to look inside. Three pigs, two large and one small, were sleeping huddled together.
She looked to the side. A chicken enclosure stood right next to it, with at least a dozen chickens packed tightly into a coop.
Good! This is the place!
Song Ning pulled a piece of wood from the nearby firewood stack and murmured to the three soundly sleeping pigs:
"Brother Pig! Sorry about this!"
Then she swung the stick down hard several times. Jolted awake, the three pigs scrambled up and charged around, squealing-
After crashing into the walls a few times, they bolted out of the pen without any guidance from Song Ning, even breaking through the chicken coop beside it.
The hens and roosters in the coop scattered in fright, some flapping wildly, others crowing...
The pigs tore around the courtyard, then blindly charged out through the gate, setting the dogs in the courtyard opposite barking furiously...
The mountain village, silent only moments before, suddenly erupted with noise.
Lan Ying was crouching at the foot of the wall. Song Ning pulled her up and ran back the way they had come.
As she ran, Song Ning struck a match and tossed it onto the dry haystack she had picked out earlier. The dry hay caught at once, and flames quickly leaped up.
But they had not gone far when a tall, dark figure lunged straight at them-
"You bitches! Think you can run? Not a chance!"
