Factory Director Zhang knew perfectly well that this was a one-off deal for Song Ning. If she set a price arbitrarily, even after this batch sold out, the price she chose would affect all future Red Star Brand products.
He immediately said gratefully, "Thank you! Thank you for thinking about our future, Boss Song. These two Red Star products retail in department stores for between forty-six and fifty-six yuan. After accounting for labor, raw materials, machine depreciation, and so on, we generally only offer a factory price in the teens for orders of at least two hundred units. By the time they reach retailers, the purchase price is at least twenty-something yuan. To leave retailers a reasonable profit margin, I'd suggest not going below thirty-five."
"Got it! Then I'll price them at thirty-eight yuan."
Before two that afternoon, a small truck from the Red Star Electronics Factory arrived with a thousand units.
After the goods were unloaded, Factory Director Zhang rubbed his hands together and said sheepishly to Song Ning:
"Boss Song! Well... do you think I could leave a few salespeople here to help you out? And while they're at it... they could learn a few things! Pick up some pointers!"
"Of course! We're short-handed as it is! We were just about to bring a few more people over!"
Seeing how open Song Ning was, unlike other manufacturers who kept their methods under wraps, Factory Director Zhang immediately addressed several of his factory's best salespeople:
"This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to learn! Keep your eyes wide open! Watch carefully and learn everything you can! And of course, while you're here, follow Boss Song's instructions!"
Only then did Song Ning ask, "Factory Director Zhang! Are the banners and promotional staff I asked you to prepare ready?"
"They're ready! All ready!
