Almost as soon as the crowd erupted into chaos, security captain Chris began running flat out.
His bulky muscles did not slow him down. Instead, they gave him impressive explosive power, making him look like a cheetah hunting its prey.
Chris rushed toward a load-bearing pillar, slid over to it, and slapped the security system's emergency lockdown switch at its base.
With a rumble, the alloy security door, weighing several tons, slowly descended under electric power.
In the end, the angry crowd failed to charge into Seven Tower before the security door came down. The supervisor on duty breathed a sigh of relief, then thought of the media storm about to break and immediately felt another headache coming on.
"Supervisor Ashley? Yes, I have something important to report to you..."
Butcher walked along the streets of Manhattan in a very good mood.
With just a few words, he had caused a major headache for those superhuman bastards and Vought International behind them. How could he not feel good?
"Mr. Butcher, you seem to be in a pretty good mood. Want to talk?"
As he rounded a street corner, Butcher stopped in his tracks because of a young man reading a newspaper behind him.
Anyone who could identify him straight away had clearly come looking for him.
Had Vought International found out about what just happened?
Impossible. If those maggots in the cesspit were that efficient, my corpse would have started stinking long ago.
He instinctively clenched his fists and turned with a cold expression, only to discover that even at his height, he seemed to need to look up to meet the young man's eyes.
Young and strong, an Asian face, very good-looking. He seemed to have received formal training and had a seasoned air beyond his years.
