Chapter Summaries

Naraku struggled to understand Xu Zhiqiu’s affection for him, but gradually accepted her presence and came to share a happy life with her. The chapter ended with Naraku thanking Xu Zhiqiu for coming to him.

Naraku remembered how he had met Xu Zhiqiu in another era, lost her after mistreating her, and regretted letting her go. He woke from the memory beside his wife, relieved that she was still with him.

• Naraku abducted Xu Zhiqiu repeatedly, and she eventually disappeared with the jewel before he could explain their past.
• Naraku woke from a nightmare beside Xu Zhiqiu, held her close, and realized the remembered events had been real.
