At Flamemon's pace, even going from In-Training to Rookie had taken several months. Going from Rookie to Champion would take at least a year.
With such a long wait, by the time Flamemon evolved into a Champion, Tai and the others would probably have beaten the Final Boss and returned to the real world...
Uh...
That was still the best-case scenario. After all, in a place like the Digital World, whether he could even survive until Flamemon evolved into a Champion was an open question...
Phew...
It looked like he would have to take a little risk after all. If he didn't have a Digivice of his own, he would borrow Tai and the others' Digivices to achieve the evolution he needed.
This was also the best option Zhou Zhu had come up with after racking his brains for the past few months. There simply weren't many lucky opportunities in the Digital World. Even knowing the plot, there were only a handful of things he could take advantage of.
Judging by the time ordinary Digimon needed to evolve, every evolution was an arduous process. Yet for Digimon belonging to DigiDestined like Tai, evolving was as easy as eating and drinking.
His Flamemon absolutely could not follow the normal route of Digimon evolution. Otherwise, he probably wouldn't live long enough to see Flamemon evolve into an Ultimate.
So he had to learn from the evolution method of that perennial sacrificial lamb. In the original story, Leomon's evolution speed had skyrocketed after he was exposed to the light of Tai's Digivice.
His later evolved form, Gold SwordLeomon, had even reached Ultimate.
Moreover, Gold SwordLeomon had personally admitted that he had evolved into an Ultimate because of the Digivice's light.
After all, only a few months at most had passed between Tai and the others leaving File Island and facing Piedmon. That was nowhere near enough time for Leomon to skip Perfect and become an Ultimate.
From that, the Digivice not only had the power to purify Black Gears, but should also have contained a vast amount of digital data. After all, even the data needed to evolve a Champion like Leomon into an Ultimate was only a portion of what was stored inside the Digivice.
The only problem now was that this particular light from the Digivice couldn't be activated at will. Even the light Tai and the others normally used for evolution was probably completely different from the light that had shone on Leomon.
After all, once Leomon had been exposed to it, he was practically on steroids. Meanwhile, Tai's Agumon and the others still reverted to Rookie not long after evolving...
It looked like he could only wait until Leomon was controlled by a Black Gear, then bring Flamemon along to mooch some data. Still, he had to plan ahead. Missing the window would be disastrous. After all, this happened only once in the first Digimon series, and it was his one chance to turn things around.
If he missed it, his Flamemon might not even have evolved into an Ultimate by the start of the second series...
"Zhou Zhu, you've asked so many times already. There aren't any human children on this island besides you. I ask the nearby Digimon every day when I go hunting. If I hear anything, I'll tell you when I get back."
Although Elecmon was thoroughly fed up with Zhou Zhu's constant questions about human children, he still understood how he felt. After all, Zhou Zhu was the only human on the entire island. He must have been lonely.
"Is that so? Then, Elecmon, do you know how to get to Andromon's Factory?" No, that won't do. Elecmon hasn't heard anything, but that might just be because he only asks around this area. It doesn't mean the DigiDestined haven't arrived in the Digital World.
He had to take the initiative. After all, if his memory served him right, by the time T.K. and Patamon arrived at the Village of Beginnings in the original story, the scene where the Digivice purified Leomon's Black Gear had long since passed.
If he remembered correctly, the early scene where Andromon was controlled by a Black Gear happened relatively soon, since that was still around the time Izzy used data on his computer to help Tentomon evolve into Kabuterimon.
He only needed to wait at Andromon's Factory during that period. As for Andromon, who was being controlled by a Black Gear inside the Factory? He could just stay stuck there.
Only those chosen favorites of fate like Tai and his group would dare take on a Perfect-level powerhouse with Champions. An In-Training nobody like him should just stick to being a nobody.
"Andromon's Factory? Of course I know where it is. Who on File Island doesn't know about Andromon's Factory? After all, aside from Monzaemon in Toy Town, Andromon is pretty much the strongest being on this island. Zhou Zhu, are you still worried about Devimon? Relax. It's been so long. Even if Devimon is up to something bad, he won't set his sights on a little place like our Village of Beginnings."
Seeing how troubled Zhou Zhu looked, Elecmon gently tried to reassure him. He had worried about Devimon for the first few months, but by now, those concerns had completely subsided.
"Yeah, you're right. Devimon really won't set his sights on a little place like the Village of Beginnings. But I'd still like to take a look at the Factory where Andromon lives."
Zhou Zhu actually agreed with Elecmon's assessment. After all, Devimon really hadn't targeted the Village of Beginnings in the original story. He had, however, torn the whole of File Island apart...
"Well... all right. It isn't that far anyway, and Andromon isn't a vicious Digimon. I'll find some time tomorrow to take you over for a look."
Seeing how determined Zhou Zhu was, Elecmon could only reluctantly agree to take him there. After all, they had spent so much time together, and Zhou Zhu had often helped him out. He could grant such a small request.
"Thanks, Elecmon. But if things go smoothly, I'll probably be living at Andromon's Factory for quite a long time." After all the time they had spent together, Zhou Zhu felt a little reluctant to part with Elecmon.
After all, in a place like the Digital World, Elecmon was the only one in the entire Village of Beginnings he could communicate with. He couldn't expect the other In-Training babies to have any normal understanding of the world, much less chat with him or provide information.
"Huh? Zhou Zhu, you're planning to live at Andromon's Factory? Well... Andromon might not be a vicious Digimon, but that doesn't mean he'll agree to let you stay there. Besides... he's a Perfect! You understand what Perfect means, right? It means we're not even qualified to reason with him. One casual Rotating Energy Sword from Andromon, and I'd probably end up back at the Village of Beginnings as a baby who needs looking after."
When he mentioned Andromon, there wasn't much fear in Elecmon's eyes, but they were filled with awe-the instinctive reverence a Rookie Digimon felt toward a Perfect Digimon.
