"Teacher, you..." Shui Bing'er stared at the teacher who had raised her, the teacher she revered above all others. She did not know how to speak.
Shui Yiyi's gaze did not change. "Bing'er, go. I'll take care of your little sister."
The last glimmer of light in Shui Bing'er's eyes slowly died, and silent tears spilled from their corners.
"Hahahaha! Shui Yiyi, you're the ruthless one after all. A child you raised from infancy, and you throw her away just like that!" Scholar laughed uproariously.
Shui Yiyi remained unmoved by Scholar's mockery. She merely said calmly, "If there's nothing else, hurry up with the exchange. I'm pressed for time."
"Let me inspect the goods first," Scholar said.
Shui Yiyi wasted no words. With a twitch of her finger, Soul Power enveloped Shui Bing'er and dragged her to a spot one meter in front of Scholar.
Scholar looked at the girl before him, sniffed hard, and licked his lips. "That's the scent. Absolutely perfect."
"Little girl, it'll only take a moment." As Scholar spoke, he reached for Shui Bing'er's heart.
Whoosh! Shui Yiyi swiftly yanked Shui Bing'er back with her Soul Power.
Scholar's reaching hand consequently caught nothing.
Shui Bing'er's momentum sent her tumbling across the ground several times. Her aqua-blue clothes were scraped into tatters, several wounds appeared on her face, and her head struck the ground, knocking her unconscious.
Shui Yiyi ignored Shui Bing'er's miserable condition and merely asked coldly, "Scholar, you've inspected the goods. Where's my item?"
"Understood, understood," Scholar said, taking out a book.
"This book is How to Advance from Soul Douluo to Titled Douluo, written by our church leader. Everything you want is in here," he said.
Shui Yiyi's eyes burned with eagerness. She had been stuck at level 89 for over a decade. Now that the opportunity lay before her, how could she not be excited?
Shui Yiyi suppressed the fire in her heart and forced herself to sound calm. "Let me see the book."
"If you read it and memorize everything, what happens if you refuse to hand her over?" Scholar asked.
"I'll definitely give you this wretched girl. I just want to check whether the book is genuine. What if you're deceiving me?" Shui Yiyi said.
The two continued their back-and-forth, neither noticing that Cao De, who had been unconscious, had slowly made his way behind Shui Yiyi.
"How about this, Scholar? That Blood Pearl you want is in Bing'er's heart. I'll hold her heart with my Soul Power, and you restrain her body. I'll take a look at the book to verify it's genuine, then we exchange our bargaining chips. How does that sound?"
Shui Yiyi made the proposal.
"Haha, you'll hold the little girl's heart with your Soul Power? Aren't you afraid you might accidentally crush it and kill her?" Scholar teased.
"That's what she's worth." Shui Yiyi's face was expressionless. She did not care in the slightest whether Shui Bing'er lived or died.
"Just what I'd expect from you, Dean Shui Yiyi. Then..." Scholar's words cut off abruptly.
Before his eyes,
a purple gleam instantly pierced Shui Yiyi's chest. The Thousand-Blade Demon Sword broke into a thousand fragments, which shot outward in every direction from her heart.
In an instant, a thousand bloody holes appeared all over Shui Yiyi's body, and blood slowly seeped out.
Shui Yiyi's pupils contracted to pinpoints, and she fell into eternal sleep on the spot.
Even in death, she never knew who had killed her.
Cao De rose from the ground and stretched his limbs. "All that crawling nearly killed me."
A smile returned to Scholar's face. Now that Shui Yiyi was dead, he could take this little girl away.
Scholar paid Cao De no heed at all. Soul Power surged throughout his body, and an immense pressure swept toward Cao De.
His gaze remained fixed on Shui Bing'er, without sparing Cao De a glance.
Cao De lifted Shui Bing'er off the ground.
"Boy, what are you doing?" Astonishment flashed in Scholar's eyes. The full pressure of his Soul Power had actually had no effect on Cao De?!
He could not help wondering how strong Cao De truly was.
But before he could say anything more, he saw Cao De press the sword's hilt against Shui Bing'er's back, directly behind her heart. Wisps of Blood Qi vanished into it.
Scholar's eyes filled with terror. He hurried forward and cried out, "Stop! Stop! Stop right now!"
"Back away," Cao De said coldly.
Scholar immediately stopped advancing and slowly backed away. He said cautiously, "Calm down. Tell me what you want."
Cao De moved the Demon Blade back a little, and Blood Qi stopped emerging from Shui Bing'er’s body. "Then tell me why you're trying to capture Shui Bing'er."
Scholar hurriedly said, "There's a Blood Pearl in her heart. We need the Blood Pearl. Young hero, the Blood Pearl is no use to you. How about this? Tell me what you want, and I'll trade you for it."
Cao De ignored the latter half of Scholar's answer and continued questioning him. "What exactly is this Blood Pearl, and what does it do?"
"Young hero, knowing that won't do you any good. Tell me what you want. How about I trade you for it?"
Scholar coaxed him patiently as thin strands of red Soul Power seeped from beneath his feet and flowed into the earth.
"So you don't want to talk?" Cao De brought the hilt close to Shui Bing'er's back again, directly behind her heart, and wisps of Blood Qi seeped out once more.
"Young hero, wait! I'll talk! I'll talk!" Scholar hurriedly waved his hands.
"Our church leader discovered these Blood Pearls. We can use them to cultivate. That's all, young hero. What do you want? Can't I trade you for it?" A faint sob even crept into Scholar's voice.
"But you're being awfully dishonest." As Cao De spoke, he swung the Thousand-Blade Demon Sword behind him. The blood-red spike forming at his back shattered instantly and was absorbed by the Demon Blade.
"What does your Nuomi Church do?" Cao De asked again.
This time, Scholar was no longer as frightened as before. His gaze grew increasingly cold as he slowly uttered, "Looks like I won't be taking this Blood Pearl away today."
Eight Soul Rings instantly appeared around Scholar, each covered in blood-red patterns.
Zero-frame startup!
"Seventh Soul Skill: Martial Soul Avatar!" The moment Scholar finished speaking, a red-and-silver lion gradually enveloped him.
Holy shit! Cao De roared inwardly. He's opening with his ultimate? Is he really that badass?!
Even as Cao De complained inwardly, he finished absorbing the Blood Pearl's power from Shui Bing'er's body. He set her aside in the same motion, and four Soul Rings appeared around him.
"Eighth Soul Skill: Blood-Extinguishing Firmament!"
As the words fell, an enormous thunderbolt formed instantly. A red-and-white bolt as thick as a bucket came crashing down at Cao De.
Cao De instantly unleashed his third Soul Skill, Demon Sword's Protection, to block it, while using Reverse Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track to dodge into the distance.
Boom!!!
The enormous thunderbolt shattered the purple barrier outright and blasted a deep crater into the ground, its shock waves sweeping through the surroundings.
Cao De rolled across the ground several times before steadying himself. A tingling current ran through his body, leaving his mind exceptionally clear.
After the thunderbolt struck Demon Sword's Protection, the blood-red color within it had noticeably diminished. Upon discovering this, Cao De worked out a plan in his mind.
"Not dead?" Scholar looked startled, then a smile returned to his face.
"Sixth Soul Skill: Blood Thunder Clone!"
Scholar's lightning surged. Five balls of lightning exploded in an instant, and five Scholars emerged from them.
Six identical Scholars.
"Second Soul Skill: Blood Thunder Charge!"
The six identical Scholars attacked Cao De at incredible speed, closing in from different angles and directions.
Cao De swiftly activated his third Soul Skill, Demon Sword's Protection, around his body, using the speed of his first Soul Skill, Draw Cut, to dodge attack after attack.
But in the end, one of the Scholars struck him with a punch, sending Cao De flying backward.
Another Scholar immediately appeared behind him and punched him in the lower back, producing a series of cracking sounds.
The six Scholars formed a relay, battering Cao De back and forth.
Cao De circulated the Great Sun Heart Method at full power, constantly using his third Soul Skill to avoid fatal damage.
"What a slippery little worm!" Scholar said coldly.
