Yi Chen watched the insects shriek miserably in the flames, his face pale. His body began to tremble uncontrollably.
"What am I supposed to do?"
Yi Chen murmured in despair, "Have I committed too much slaughter?"
A piercing bird cry suddenly erupted in the distant sky. An enormous black eagle swept through the pale blue heavens, carrying a little girl in its long, sharp talons as it flew straight upward.
The little girl's fingers twitched. She seemed to have regained consciousness, and she stared in confusion at the endless abyss below. "Big sister, where are you taking me?"
The black eagle let out a strange cry and viciously drove its sharp, steel-like beak toward the little girl's head!
Just then, a streak of azure light shot from the ridge like a meteor. The dark silhouette gave an enraged roar and beat its wings desperately in pursuit.
In the blink of an eye, the azure light plunged into the black eagle's belly. The dark silhouette let out a cry of utter terror and flew toward the mountain range's summit with the little girl.
The black eagle and Yi Chen clashed again, and this time the situation grew even more dangerous. The black eagle was engulfed in roaring flames, those golden flames formed from pure energy. The azure light, however, was different: it was a destructive light wave infused with mental power. It blasted straight into the black eagle's armor and actually split it in two!
The black eagle's enormous wings flapped wildly before it finally steadied itself. Thick crimson flames suddenly exploded outward, engulfing the area within nearly three meters of Yi Chen.
The azure light soared skyward again. Yi Chen hurriedly gathered a surge of soul power and wrapped it around himself, making his entire body incredibly light and agile.
