They returned to Dragon Lake Blue Shore.
Shen Jin could still walk on her own, so Sister Hua only needed to keep her from banging her head on the steps.
But to prevent Yun Xiaoran from trying anything improper with Shen Jin, Sister Hua would still have to stay with her tonight.
Yun Xiaoran felt perfectly at ease. His mouth ulcers had flared up earlier, so he had barely touched the plate of spicy garlic crayfish. Now he could simply shell them all and use them for crayfish noodles.
Shen Jin opened the door and then stared blankly at Yun Xiaoran, who was working in the kitchen with an apron on.
"You're back. Give me a moment. I'll dish up your crayfish noodles soon." Yun Xiaoran smiled faintly. After all, she was drunk, and just about anything could happen.
"No, sit on the sofa first." Who knew what had crossed Shen Jin's mind when she saw Yun Xiaoran's handsome, clean-cut face?
Her cute expression vanished, replaced by a cold look. Yet as she pointed at the sofa with her left hand, she looked for all the world like she was acting spoiled.
"What's wrong?" Yun Xiaoran was puzzled, but he slowly untied his apron, looking questioningly at Sister Hua.
"I don't know what's gotten into her either. Jin'er turned like this as soon as we got back. You'd better just do as she says." Sister Hua looked helpless.
Who knew what was going through that girl's head?
Yun Xiaoran could only comply. Once seated on the sofa, he looked into Shen Jin's alluring eyes. But were they filled with anger, jealousy, or something else?
Unable to decipher that look, Yun Xiaoran could only sit there stiffly.
"Good. Now that's my good husband." The drunken Shen Jin nodded, praising Yun Xiaoran for being a good husband.
"What the hell is going on?" Yun Xiaoran looked helplessly at Sister Hua and pursed his lips toward her, signaling for her to come up with something, fast.
Shen Jin merely approached him slowly. Though drunk and not particularly graceful, she still retained her usual control over her facial expressions.
Yun Xiaoran finally had a chance to take a proper look at her pretty, drunken face.
Stray locks framed her oval face with a disheveled beauty. Her soft, pink ears were flushed red, and beneath her lashes, her intoxicated, sultry eyes seemed to draw him in. Meanwhile, her pearly teeth bit down on her closed lips.
"Your... pockets?" While Yun Xiaoran was admiring her face, Shen Jin spoke.
"What?" Yun Xiaoran hadn't heard her clearly, but Shen Jin seemed to take his response as an attempt to argue. She raised her voice.
"Your pockets! Your pockets!" Shen Jin was normally half a head shorter than Yun Xiaoran, but now he was sitting and she was standing. Growing impatient, she began feeling around his pockets.
"And you still dare argue."
"Jin'er, don't get carried away. What are you trying to do?"
Sister Hua, however, sat on the opposite sofa with keen interest. As long as nobody got killed, the couple could fool around however they liked. She even began secretly taking out her phone to record them.
I have to show her this tomorrow. A barely noticeable smile spread across Sister Hua's face.
Shen Jin had practiced yoga to keep in shape and had even taught herself women's self-defense for a while to improve her fitness, giving her body graceful curves.
Yun Xiaoran had a natural advantage in height, but because he'd let his guard down, Shen Jin now held him firmly in place and began searching him.
What the heck? What's this girl doing? Alarm written across his face, Yun Xiaoran tried to stop Shen Jin while covering his pockets.
I'd rather die than give in today.
Shen Jin searched both pockets of his jacket. Finding nothing, she gradually shifted her gaze toward the two pockets of his trousers.
Her hands were nimble and quick. Every time Yun Xiaoran covered one spot, Shen Jin would reach into another as easily as plucking something from a bag.
"Stop, stop, stop... What exactly do you want? I'll take it out for you. Quit messing around..."
All that teasing was getting Yun Xiaoran worked up. Come on, he was a man with perfectly normal physical needs. How could she dare play around like this?
"Fine, you take it out." Having found nothing, Shen Jin looked as dejected as a child. Even with tears filling her eyes, she stubbornly kept searching.
"My phone, earphones, tissues, and a business card... That's everything. There's nothing else to find..." Yun Xiaoran looked helpless. What the hell? He had never done anything to offend her, so why had she immediately started searching his personal belongings?
"That business card!" Shen Jin snatched the card with lightning speed. Once she had it, she was indeed like a child who'd gotten the toy she wanted. She obediently sat cross-legged on the sofa and began tearing at it with her hands.
Sister Hua and Yun Xiaoran exchanged a bewildered glance, then stared at the business card in front of them.
It was the very card Shen Jin had tossed to Yun Xiaoran during their blind date.
"That'll teach you to look for other women..." Shen Jin kept muttering as she tugged at the card. Her manicure made it hard to get a grip, and the plastic card was stiff. Unable to vent her anger, she began biting it with her pearly teeth.
She really did look like a groundhog eating.
At last!
After she finished biting the business card, Shen Jin turned to the bewildered Yun Xiaoran and said:
"Honey, I'm hungry now. I want the noodles you made for me. And give me your phone too!"
"Of course. You can eat..." Seeing that the girl had finally stopped acting up, Yun Xiaoran breathed a sigh of relief. Still, he sat beside her in case she decided to delete something from his phone or send something she shouldn't. He gave a smile...
With his phone in hand, Shen Jin went straight into WeChat.
"Is this an inspection?" Yun Xiaoran was a little surprised. There was nothing on his WeChat anyway, but more importantly, he and she barely had any emotional foundation. Why was she checking up on him?
After browsing through it, Shen Jin seemed fairly satisfied. She opened her own chat and began changing her contact name.
Yun Xiaoran hadn't set a contact name for Shen Jin either, so it displayed her default WeChat name.
"Super-duper best wife." After changing the contact name, Shen Jin made a point of warning Yun Xiaoran, "Don't you dare change it. If I catch you, you're dead!"
"Okay, okay, okay." Helpless, Yun Xiaoran went to prepare dinner.
Sister Hua sat talking with Shen Jin, keeping her distracted so she wouldn't start biting anything else.
"Delicious. My husband's cooking is the best." Shen Jin alternated between crayfish and noodles, washing them down with a bowl of sobering soup. Watching her made Sister Hua terribly hungry. She'd barely eaten at the gathering before coming back.
"This one's yours." Yun Xiaoran dished up another bowl of noodles and set it in front of Sister Hua, who was looking around for Fu Bao the cat.
"Don't worry. He's already eaten his fill. He's in my arms now." Yun Xiaoran stroked the cat nestled against him.
Sister Hua ate the noodles in small mouthfuls, inwardly full of praise for Yun Xiaoran's cooking. "I didn't expect your noodles to taste this good."
Shen Jin was thoroughly enjoying her food and was behaving fairly well.
Yun Xiaoran had already eaten and wasn't hungry, but sitting there gave him a different sort of feeling, as though he really had a family of his own, with a wife and a cat.
"What's wrong? Are you hungry too? Here, I'll give my husband the crayfish I couldn't bear to eat yet." Seeing Yun Xiaoran's wistful expression, Shen Jin tilted her head in puzzlement and pushed her plate toward him.
