After hitting a wall with Shen Jin's father, they decided to take a different approach this time. They would ease into the subject rather than bring it up outright as they had before.
Yun Xiaoran and Shen Jin sat in the back seat as usual, while Sister Hua drove and tried to reassure Shen Jin.
"Don't worry when we get there. Your mom's pretty easy to talk to. Maybe it's just your dad who's having trouble coming around, or maybe your mom has been thinking about getting back together all along."
Shen Jin merely sat in silence, listening quietly to Sister Hua's empty reassurances. She knew Sister Hua was trying to comfort her. Her brow remained tightly furrowed, and she said nothing more. She wanted to believe that too, but reality was often cruel.
Her mother's reaction might be even stronger than her father's.
There was no way to tell. Shen Jin could only keep frowning as she watched the trees and pedestrians rush past outside the window.
Her thoughts brought her no relief at all.
Instead, her brow remained tightly furrowed. She looked at Yun Xiaoran again, and he had been watching her mood all along.
Seeing her frown once more, he nodded at her and said, "Don't worry. We'll definitely succeed this time. Your mom might actually agree."
Shen Jin merely shook her head gently and asked:
"What if she doesn't agree?"
Yun Xiaoran fell silent too.
