Then, as though something had occurred to her, Shen Jin looked hesitantly at her brother.
Seeing his sister act like this, Shen Yi couldn't help feeling puzzled.
"What's wrong? Why are you making that face?"
After a moment of hesitation, Shen Jin cleared her throat. "I want Mom and Dad to get back together. Can we do that?"
"Get Mom and Dad back together?"
Shen Yi repeated the words, then cleared his throat and mulled them over.
Clearly, this had come as quite a shock.
Hadn't things been fine all along? Why did she suddenly want Mom and Dad to get back together? Besides, even if they weren't together now, the two households still kept in touch. How had it come to this?
Puzzled, Shen Yi asked, "Why do you suddenly want Mom and Dad to get back together? Things are already fine this way."
Shen Jin shook her head.
"No, they're not good enough. I want Mom and Dad to get back together. Dad was framed back then. He didn't do anything wrong."
Hearing this, Shen Yi fell silent too.
Their parents had separated over that very incident.
And they had remained apart ever since, though they still got together on certain holidays or family members' birthdays.
But they hardly ever spoke unless the children specifically asked them to.
Otherwise, they wouldn't speak at all.
After a long while, Shen Yi finally said quietly, "But how do you plan to get them back together?"
Shen Jin had been anxiously waiting for his answer, afraid that her brother would oppose the idea.
But hearing him say this finally put her at ease.
With her brother involved, their chances of success would undoubtedly be higher. After all, there was only so much one person could do.
