Mogwin, Hilbert, and a group of other loyal scientists were precious assets to Marley. Bruce had dispatched a guard unit to escort them secretly out of the city.
"Dusk, take care." Moriarty gave Gal a firm nod.
Tailor bumped fists with Gal without saying a word.
Zoe hugged Gal goodbye.
With that, the last four Marley agents parted ways, each setting out on the road to restoring their nation.
"Dusk, this is your new identity. Memorize it immediately. Every record and file from your past has been destroyed." Bruce handed Gal a sheet of paper.
Gal took it and looked at his new name: Caesar Malaine.
"Now, Agent Dusk, carry out your final order." Bruce placed a submachine gun in Gal's hands.
Gal's pupils contracted slightly.
Bruce and Gal left the basement and emerged aboveground.
Boom!
Bang, bang, bang!
The last defenders outside city hall were still making their final stand against Floch's soldiers.
As soon as Gal came out of the basement, he saw neat ranks of people standing before him, with a bonfire beside them.
They consisted of the twenty-odd remaining agents, a dozen city hall employees, and five generals.
A man in a general's uniform looked at the adjutant beside him. "Nahid, I can't live as a slave to a conquered nation. I'm leaving the aftermath to you."
His eyes bloodshot, Nahid watched the five generals take off their uniforms and raise pistols to their temples.
"Marley!" Kloster, the Galgada City Defense Force Commander, roared as he pulled the trigger.
Bang!
Kloster crumpled to the ground.
Bang! Bang!
The four City Defense Force officers all took their own lives.
Gal's pupils trembled. Seeing the generals die in such an undignified way, he seemed to understand Bruce's intention.
