As Bai Yu gradually left the mountaintop, Annie tried several times to say something behind him, but none of it made him turn around. Xiate, walking beside him, glanced back twice before speaking.
"What are you up to this time, dear brother?"
"Nothing much. I won't have time to keep an eye on her for the next couple of days, so I asked Levi to do it for me."
Bai Yu shrugged. Xiate knew he would tell her if she asked again, but she wasn't particularly interested.
It was just more of those strange ideas in her dear brother's head anyway.
"Are you coming along to clear out the Titans tomorrow, dear brother?"
"Of course. Why wouldn't I?"
"Oh."
Early the next morning.
The members of the Bai Yu Squad were the first to arrive and wait at the edge of the wall. Bai Yu sat on the edge of the Trost District wall, swinging his dangling legs. Ming drank beside him, while Kali was still wiping down her blades. Xiate stood behind Bai Yu, watching the Titans outside the wall.
"They're still not here? They're really taking their time."
"The captain is usually pretty punctual, isn't he?"
Just as Kali finished speaking, several figures shot into the air before landing on top of the wall.
It was the Levi Squad and Jay.
"You're a little late, Levi."
Levi clicked his tongue and glanced behind him.
"There was a little problem, but it's been dealt with."
Annie, standing farther back, also heard Bai Yu's voice. Just as she prepared to step forward, Ming drew his blade with a clang. Cold light flashed across it as his wine-red eyes fixed quietly on Annie. Though he said nothing, his meaning was clear.
Bai Yu smiled and pushed Ming's drawn blade back
