As Shachi plummeted, he suddenly extended a thick, dark red kagune and slammed it into the ground. His whole body moved with it through a series of strange motions, dissipating the force and cushioning his fall. With one final dull thud, he landed firmly in a half crouch, looking barely injured.

"As expected of a martial artist among ghouls. Falls from over a hundred meters and lands like nothing happened." Louis curled his lip and slowly descended. Only when both feet touched the ground did the supporting force behind him gradually fade.

His ability was to release cold and condense crystals. But until that cold reached a certain concentration, it was not actually a gas. It was more like temperature itself, without physical substance, and could not act directly on ordinary objects.

The only exception was the low-temperature crystals condensed from that cold.

He suspended the Ice Blade in midair by using that cold as a medium. The drawback was that the force he could exert was limited, enough only to lift lightweight crystals. Before his right arm underwent Elementalization, even lifting a single Ice Blade had been difficult.

Now, however, he could already suspend an adult in midair.

Unfortunately, the force the cold could exert on crystals within a given area was limited. Otherwise, he would not have needed to form ice wings behind him; his crystalline right arm alone could have supported his entire body.

Simply put, the crystals could fly, but Louis himself could not. If crystallization ever covered his whole body, he would be able to fly freely, achieving something akin to telekinesis.

"But... I put some effort into forming these Ice Feathers. They'll be just the thing to deal with you..." Louis turned his gaze back to Shachi.
