Louis heard Ryoko and Hinami’s concerns that he was neglecting himself and losing his humanity as his body changed. He recognized that his fading emotions could turn him into a soulless being and affirmed Hinami’s role in warning him when he went astray.

• Louis left part of Banjō’s Kagune embedded in his back and found that his crystal-like right hand still had no sensation.
• Ryoko reported that Ward 24 was doing well, then told Louis that Hinami worried he cared less about himself and was taking on too much alone.
• Louis defended his choice to pursue power and said going alone would help him avoid drawing attention.
• Ryoko reminded Louis that Hinami liked him and warned that the passion and hope in his eyes were fading.
• Hinami showed Louis a mirror and said she could no longer hear his heartbeat or detect his familiar scent and unconscious movements.
• After they left, Louis realized his body and emotions were fading, feared becoming a soulless weapon, and recognized that Hinami was meant to guide him when he went astray.
