Black Rei sat down on the Soul Seat inside the Entry Plug and closed her eyes as LCL flooded in.
Mark.09 raised her head, her single green eye swiveling up and down.
Black Rei opened her eyes. Neither her gaze nor her face betrayed any emotion.
Gendo Ikari stood by the steel bridge railing with his hands behind his back, looking up at Mark.09.
"Fuyutsuki, deploy her near the Nevada Branch to probe them. See how far along they are, then we'll adjust our progress to maintain our lead."
Kozo Fuyutsuki operated the console beside him, checking the projected display. "Ikari, she can reach the Nevada Branch in about six hours."
Gendo Ikari said, "Good. Equip Mark.09 with a suitable weapon and send another twenty Mass Production Unit-07s to support her. Once the probe is done, use an underwater Artificial Angel to bring her back."
Kozo Fuyutsuki asked, "Isn't Kaworu Nagisa going?"
Gendo Ikari replied, "He'll go too, but there's a more important task he needs to handle personally."
Nevada Branch
Misato reviewed the documents submitted by Wille members, which included equipment assignment paperwork and supply distribution lists.
Ritsuko Akagi and Maya Ibuki were repairing the database on their laptops.
Ritsuko Akagi asked, "Maya, have you restored your pilot files?"
Maya Ibuki replied, "Yes, they're mostly recovered. We can open and read them normally now. But... one pilot's file is rather unusual."
Ritsuko Akagi asked, "What's wrong with it?"
Maya Ibuki said, "It's the file on the Special Unit Pilot, Huang Zhetian."
Ritsuko Akagi nudged Maya Ibuki aside, then used the mouse to open it.
