The two spears collided in a shower of sparks. Gendo Ikari had Unit-13 pull back the Spear of Longinus, hoping to use the opening to wrest the Spear of Cassius from Shinji Ikari.
Shinji Ikari was no longer the child he had once been. With the boost from Huang Zhetian's Summoner, Unit-01 severed its synchronized connection with Unit-13.
Moreover, the armor Unit-01 wore carried the combat skills and techniques Huang Zhetian had honed over the years, making Shinji's fight against Gendo far less one-sided than in the original story.
Unit-01 twisted the Spear of Cassius, locking it into a groove in the Spear of Longinus. Its left hand clenched into a fist, and the folding shell at its elbow shifted into position for a charged punch.
With an added burst of jet propulsion, Shinji drove Unit-01's fist into Unit-13's blocking arm.

The blow from Unit-01 stunned Unit-13. Its opponent's strength actually matched its own.
Gendo opened the hand he had used to block, seized Unit-01's wrist, and drove a knee upward.
Unit-01 shifted a leg sideways to block the strike, then jerked its arm and used the force of the impact to push away.
Bang-thud!!!
After separating by some distance, Unit-01 and Unit-13 readied their spears, their eyes fixed on each other's every move.
The two units stood on opposite sides of the miniature buildings in the tokusatsu set, neither willing to attack recklessly again.
Just then, Unit-13 launched another attack!
Leaning forward into a running start, it charged with the Spear of Longinus. Just before reaching Unit-01, it spun and swung the spear!
There was no trace of panic in Shinji's eyes. He settled Unit-01 into a firm horse stance and sent the Spear of Cassius thrusting back and forth!
Gendo sneered, and the two arms crossed
