Earth, that blue planet.
Seen from space, the planet was naturally breathtakingly beautiful, but a black sphere that swallowed light like a black hole drew humanity's gaze away from the world they called home.
The black sphere was contracting, but it was not growing smaller. Instead, it was drawing its AT Field into a dense spherical barrier. The distortion of light along its edges grew ever more intense, and not even sunlight could penetrate it.
Viewed from the bomb-carrying satellite spacecraft in outer space, with the craft itself as a reference, the black spherical shell disguising that enormous life-form measured more than three kilometers across.
With light twisting whenever it drew near, the eerie sight looked less like a normal celestial body than a pitch-black sun that devoured everything.
Judging by size alone, this was undoubtedly the largest Angel in history.
What was truly terrifying, however, was its Absolute Field. The AT Field covering its body was so powerful that hundreds of N2 Aerial Bombs had bombarded it without leaving a scratch.
The screen flickered during the space forces' battle with the Angel, and NERV Headquarters lost its view of the 11th Angel.
Yet everyone in the Combat Command Center continued watching the big screen, which now showed the waters of the Indian Ocean.
The Andaman and Nicobar Islands evaporated in an instant. The shock wave overturned the fishing boats where nearby seafaring tribes lived, and it looked as though a chunk had been gouged out of the map.
Even before that, an uninhabited island in the Indian Ocean had already exploded and vaporized. The entire island had evaporated, and the satellites had captured only a giant bubble and a column of steam suddenly rising from the sea.
"What incredible destructive power. Just what you'd expect from an AT Field,"
