Time slipped by, and two hours quietly passed.

Suddenly, a Sky-Piercing eagle's shriek pierced the air, as mournful as a ghost's wail, chilling everyone to the marrow.

A suffocating pressure reached them from afar.

A sharp gleam blazed in Chen Hong's eyes. His sleeves stirred without wind as he slowly rose, steady as a deep pool and towering mountain. His voice rang like metal striking stone. "At last, it's here."

Cold stars seemed to flash in Yang Jingxue's eyes as she looked up. "We've spent five days in these mountains and killed six Holy King tier soul beasts. Its arrival now is hardly surprising."

Before her words faded, wings that blotted out the sky cleaved across the moon.

Overhead, black clouds bore down and countless feathers whirled. The thunder of wings sounded like a hundred thousand heavenly soldiers beating war drums of kui hide.

The ground abruptly trembled. Tigers roared and elephants bellowed, their cries rising one after another, as though primordial beasts had broken their shackles. Ancient trees snapped and mountain rocks shattered wherever they passed. Even the stars and moon dimmed before their towering ferocity.

Chen Hong lightly pushed off with his toes, sweeping like a solitary crane onto a precarious rock a hundred feet high.

The gusting night wind whipped up his blue-green cloak, revealing the blood-red soft armor beneath-the very Cloud-Swallowing Battle Robe he had worn when he single-handedly shattered a hundred battle formations outside the Foreign Legion all those years ago.

They stood on a high platform atop a mountain peak. A mountain wall bordered the stone platform to the west, while steep cliffs rose to the north and south, as though carved by knives and axes. The eastern slope was gentler, but its incline was still considerable.
