After Chen Wenchao arrived, his persuasion and explanation of the Torso Soul Bone's special properties convinced Chen Xun to absorb it.
He walked up to the Hurricane Demon Wolf King's corpse and sat down cross-legged. He began mobilizing his Soul Power, trying to draw the Soul Bone's energy into his body.
At first, he only felt the Soul Bone's energy flowing endlessly into his body through his spine like a cold current. Its bone-piercing chill made him shudder. As time passed, however, the current grew gentler, gradually merging with his Soul Power.
Chen Xun began to feel his spine changing. It grew harder and harder, as though it would pierce his skin and fuse with his skeleton. He endured the pain and kept his heart calm. He knew this was an unavoidable part of fusing with the Soul Bone.
His sternum and ribs also began to change. Like a pair of wings, they spread out on either side of his spine, lending his body a more imposing presence. His ribs curved and crossed, as though arrows had been fitted to an invisible bow.
Wondrous changes began taking place in Chen Xun's body. His muscles grew firmer, and his frame expanded noticeably. His bones hardened until they were like refined iron.
The ribs seemed to give his body a special defensive mechanism, allowing him to withstand even stronger attacks.
However, fusing with the Soul Bone was not all smooth sailing. Chen Xun began to experience pain unlike anything he had ever felt.
His body felt as though it were being torn apart, every part of him wracked with agony. His Soul Power began boiling as well, as though it would erupt from within him.
Chen Wenchao stood nearby, watching Chen Xun's condition closely. He knew how grueling this process was for
