Professor Serizawa sat inside a Miniature Submarine, watching Gomess walk into the sea.
A massive Oxygen Destroyer bomb hung beneath the submarine.
Steam rose from Gomess's enormous body. The moment Gomess reached the shallows, a vast stretch of seawater evaporated.
Blood spurted from Gomess's wounds into the sea.
Gomess collapsed into the water, sending clouds of steam billowing from the shallows.
Gomess plunged straight to the seabed and curled up, using the seawater to lower its body temperature.
Gomess's heat-dissipation organs began repairing themselves, masses of tissue surging over the wounds.
Once my heat-dissipation organs are repaired, I'll make those insects pay. I swear it!
Daisuke Serizawa confirmed that Gomess had come to a complete stop on the seabed.
He activated the thruster and headed toward Gomess.
Misato hurriedly asked Serizawa, "How are you planning to evacuate?!"
She turned to Ritsuko. "Can this submarine's ejection system get him out of the blast radius in time?"
Ritsuko was about to say she couldn't be sure, but Serizawa interrupted their argument.
"Don't argue. This submarine doesn't have an ejection system."
"I've studied Gomess for so long. It's time I personally sent it on its way."
Misato listened in shock to Serizawa's final words before his death. "No! You still have time to come back!"
Ritsuko said, "No wonder you never told us how to operate or detonate the Oxygen Depleter..."
Serizawa laughed heartily. "It's all right. If these old bones can blaze their brightest at this moment, I'll die without regrets!"
"We haven't spent long together, but I haven't felt my life burn this fiercely in a very long time."
"You've already done everything you needed to do!"
"Leave the rest to me. Only now can I finish what I set out to do!"
"Go and embrace the future that belongs to
