"Master!!"
Meng Fan fell to the ground.
Denji and Pochita rushed over at the same time.
They had only known each other for a day.
But Meng Fan had given Denji experiences he had never had before.
No one had ever looked out for him the way Meng Fan did.
He had taken him to a fancy restaurant unlike anything he had ever seen, and even had a waitress feed him bread.
For the first time, Denji realized that eating could be like that.
Now he even had something to dream about.
Meng Fan had also taken him to soak in a hot spring, bathe, and gaze at the stars and moon.
He had not forgotten to teach him about devils, either.
For the first time, Denji had felt the comfort of a hot spring.
It turned out that bathing could be wonderful, too.
Meng Fan had taken him to stay at the Five-Star Hotel, showing Denji just how luxurious a room could be.
He had even made sure to give both him and Pochita a sweet dream.
Then there was the sweet breakfast and their conversation on the road.
No one but Meng Fan had ever given Denji any of those things.
Meng Fan had opened up a whole new world of experiences for him.
Calling Meng Fan Master felt awkward, but Denji meant it from the bottom of his heart.
It was just hard to get used to saying it for the first time.
He had even started thinking about building a future with Meng Fan.
Even if Meng Fan stole his bread, cursed at him, and hit him.
Denji really did not want to lose anyone else.
"Stop staring. He's already dead," Ino said with a loud laugh, looking at him as though he were a stray dog.
"Damn it!! I'd only just found a reason to keep living. Why? Why did you have to destroy it?"
Denji crouched beside Meng Fan and clenched his fists.
Pochita growled furiously at Ino.
"You still want to live? You're nothing but our dog. If you weren't obedient and still useful, we'd have killed you ages ago." Ino grew more and more brazen.
"Ino, how could you say that?"
"Boss... you..."
"He's our dog, after all. If you talk to him like that, he might stop working for us."
"Boss, didn't you say a dog is always a dog? Even if you beat it, it'll still wag its tail and stick out its tongue for its owner as long as you give it something tasty afterward."
"Hahaha, that's right." The Yakuza Boss laughed, then asked coldly, "Denji, are you the kind of dog Ino just described?"
Denji lowered his head, picked up Pochita, and slowly stood. "I am..."
"Hahaha, what a good dog. He can still bark even after all this."
"Boss, let's keep such an obedient dog. We'll never find another one like him."
"Of course we're keeping him." Both men were laughing almost hard enough to cry, and the underlings around them laughed along.
Soon, everyone was laughing, practically doubling over.
The tense atmosphere instantly relaxed.
Seeing this, Denji yanked the pull cord on Pochita's rear.
The chainsaw roared to life, and he charged at the Yakuza Boss with a furious shout. "I'm not a dog! I have thoughts of my own!!"
Crunch!!
The rapidly spinning chainsaw bit into Ino's shoulder.
Blood and flesh were dragged into the saw.
"Aah!!!" Ino screamed in pain, never having imagined that someone he looked down on would turn on him.
"Die!!"
Slash!!
Denji pushed hard, sawing half of Ino's shoulder clean off.
But he was not finished yet.
Amid Ino's screams, Denji sawed his body apart piece by piece.
The Yakuza Boss frowned at the crazed attack.
He hurriedly backed away. "Kill... kill him!!"
"Come on. I don't want to live anymore anyway. Before I die, pay back what you owe me."
Gripping the chainsaw tightly, Denji raced after the Yakuza Boss.
Bang! Bang!!
Two bullets pierced Denji's body.
Denji only paused briefly, feeling no discomfort.
Instead, he charged forward and cut off the Yakuza Boss's head with a single strike.
Bang! Bang! Bang!!!
The underlings reloaded.
More than a dozen bullets slammed into Denji's back.
Blood stained his entire back red.
"Po... Po... chita."
Riddled with bullets, Denji's eyes rolled back, and his body collapsed limply to the ground.
Pochita, now alone, was also shot several times and fell into a pool of blood.
Yet even at death's door, Pochita kept crawling toward Denji.
Only after lying down beside Denji did Pochita finally close those eyes.
With the others dead, the surviving underlings had yet to leave.
"Damn it! That cornered dog actually killed our boss."
"Who would've thought he'd dare do something like that in the end?"
"Whatever. The boss is dead, so he's dead. The Yakuza never runs out of bosses."
"Let's go. Let's go!"
Thud!!
The man at the front suddenly dropped to the ground without warning.
"What's wrong with him?"
"Did he just faint?"
Two men helped him up to check.
He had been perfectly lively a moment ago, but now he was fast asleep.
"Hey, wake up!"
"Wait, his body..."
Whoosh!!
The sleeping man's body suddenly floated into the air.
Everyone froze, staring blankly.
"Aah!!!"
A scream rang out.
The sleeping man writhed continuously in midair.
Slash!!
Cuts appeared across the sleeping man's body at a visible pace.
At first, they were only shallow wounds.
Then they became deep, slicing cuts.
Chunks of his corpse fell from the air onto everyone's faces.
"Aah!!"
"A devil!!"
Everyone snapped out of their daze and scattered, screaming.
But no one could escape.
Before they had taken more than a few steps, they all fell asleep and collapsed.
Each died the same way as the first man.
Their bodies floated in the air as they screamed without end.
Wounds kept appearing until their corpses were reduced to chunks.
Once everyone was dead.
Meng Fan, who had been lying on the ground, opened his eyes.
"While I was alive, I might have been a little mischievous. But after you killed me, I became much more terrifying."
Meng Fan stood and surveyed the scattered body parts.
If there were any bears nearby.
They could come over and enjoy a buffet.
Then Meng Fan walked over to Denji's corpse. There was no grief on his face; instead, he seemed to be anticipating something.
He even smiled as he said, "Denji, you're about to get your balls back."
With that, he pulled out Denji's heart and held it in his hand, murmuring, "Let's begin!!"
Some time passed.
The lead surgeon wiped the sweat from his forehead.
As he put away his knife, he declared the operation a success.
"Finally, a little blood to drink."
A few drops of blood fell into Denji's mouth.
Drip!!
"Cough, cough!!"
The blood was swiftly absorbed as it entered his throat, and Denji woke with a cough.
He abruptly sat up.
The first person he saw was Meng Fan.
"You..."
"Are we in Hell or Heaven?"
"We're in Hell."
"Oh my God, I don't think I've ever done anything bad! Did I end up in Hell because I hadn't paid off my debt?"
"Snap out of it. You're still alive."
"I'm still alive?"
Denji looked around.
His surroundings were so unfamiliar that he recognized nothing.
"This is the Yakuza Boss's house. Now that he's dead, his wife and his house are ours."
"Huh? I'm not dead? Where's Pochita?"
"In your heart." Meng Fan pointed.
Denji lowered his head and saw a pull cord sticking out over his heart.
He recognized that cord. It was Pochita's tail.
"You and Pochita were both shot dead by the Yakuza. But Pochita gave you a devil heart to save you. Now you're both human and devil."
"Pochita." Denji stroked the spot over his heart. "Pochita gave me that heart. Is Pochita dead?"
"Don't worry, Pochita isn't dead. The two of you have simply become one. Just pull the cord connected to your heart, and you can transform into Chainsaw Man."
"Chainsaw Man?" Denji murmured, already gripping the chainsaw's pull cord.
"Wait, don't transform yet. The Yakuza Boss's wife will be out of the bath in a minute."
