"At the cafe on the street corner?"
"I'd wave and greet you with a smile."
"And sit down for a chat with you."
Meng Fan hummed soulfully as he drove.
The song reached deep into Denji's heart.
He closed his eyes and gently swayed, lost in Meng Fan's humming.
It also served as a prelude to Denji's meeting with the girl at the cafe.
When the humming ended, Denji slowly opened his eyes and asked, "Master, what song were you just singing?"
"Long Time No See."
"It's so nice. Listening to it makes you feel completely calm."
"That's actually why I sang it. I want you to hold on to that feeling. Don't get nervous when you see the girl, and don't keep staring at her chest muscles. Try to discover what's inside."
"Inside? What's that?" Denji scratched his head. Around Meng Fan, he was always full of questions.
"You'll understand someday."
Meng Fan didn't explain.
Nido Cafe was already visible up ahead.
"I didn't know you were such a great singer on top of being so strong, Master."
"There's plenty more your master can do. You just haven't discovered it yet. All I'd need is one rendition of 'Nocturne' to win so many music awards my hands would go numb."
The car stopped just as he finished speaking.
"We're here. Get out."
They got out and took a look at the cafe's exterior.
Then Meng Fan pushed the door open and entered.
The bell above the door rang.
A weathered-looking middle-aged man stood behind the counter.
"Welcome. What would you like?"
"We're waiting for a friend. We'll order coffee in a bit."
"Then please, take any seat."
They sat at the table closest to the window.
Denji looked around, searching for the girl.
But there
