Background / History

Before joining Public Safety, Power lived deep in the forest and survived by hunting. Her preference for meat and expectation that she could eat whatever she wanted caused friction when she began living in the city 26.

Himeno introduced Power as Aki Hayakawa’s new teammate. Aki immediately recognized her as a fiend and initially tried to remove her from his home, but Makima had ordered Power, Denji, and Meng Fan to live under his supervision. He accepted the arrangement after Himeno told him Makima trusted him to keep them in line 24.

Appearance

• Horns: Her head bears horns, which allow both Aki and the prisoners at Public Safety to recognize her as a fiend 24 45.
• No tail: Meng Fan describes her as a girl with horns but no tail before Denji meets her 9.

Personality

Power is loud, impatient, and eager to command attention. On arriving at Aki’s apartment, she walks inside without removing her shoes, demands food, and kicks open the occupied bathroom door. The following morning, she wakes her roommates before six and insists that they cook for her 24 26.

She enjoys violence and becomes particularly excited by blood. During the Mosquito Devil fight, she continues chopping after the enemy has been reduced to pulp, frightening her teammates. She subsequently explains that she remained in control and that blood naturally excites her as the Blood Devil 27.

Her confidence often exceeds her understanding. She initially imagines the Gun Devil to be only slightly stronger than the Mosquito Devil, then changes her assessment after hearing its death toll. Makima’s offer of any wish nevertheless persuades her to volunteer, with the ambition of becoming president 34.

Power’s attachment to her cat reveals a more affectionate side. She readily accepts an unspecified condition in exchange for its rescue and lovingly greets it when Meng Fan returns it. She also recognizes that Meng Fan tackled her to save her from a speeding car and thanks him 30 31 33.

Blood Weapon Creation

Power shapes blood into solid melee weapons, drawing it from wounds on her own body 26 44.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Mosquito Devil and the First Apple

Power charges into a breakfast shop during an investigation and discovers the Mosquito Devil drinking from a blood-filled sink. It initially knocks her aside, but she later destroys it with her Blood Axe while Denji and Himeno’s Ghost Devil hold it in place 26 27.

After the battle, she ignores Meng Fan’s warning and bites a red apple he has recovered from the shop. She briefly freezes, then declares it the best food she has ever eaten and begs him for another. Her growing appetite accompanies further disruptions, including eating Aki’s hospital meal with Denji 27 28 29.

Rescuing Her Cat

Meng Fan offers to rescue Power’s cat from the Bat Devil in exchange for a condition he has not yet specified. Power agrees immediately. Their journey includes a crashed taxi and a near collision with a speeding car, from which Meng Fan saves her 30 31.

At the hideout, Power knocks Denji unconscious with a Blood Hammer and brings him inside as bait. Meng Fan retrieves the cat, but the Bat Devil discovers the deception and blasts them away. After defeating the Bat Devil and the Leech Devil, Meng Fan wakes Power and returns her cat 32 33.

Morino Hotel

During the hotel mission, Power kills the small Big-Foot Devil restrained by Himeno. Once the team becomes trapped on the eighth floor, her attacks against the Eternity Devil only enlarge its body, forcing her to retreat before it engulfs her 36 37.

She eats nearly all the group’s food supplies before Meng Fan brings additional meals. While Denji fights the Eternity Devil, she joins the others in a game of Gouji, insists she understands the rules, and nevertheless gets shut out 38 39 40.

Apple Dependence and Execution Deadline

After the hotel trap ends, Power finds three more dangerous apples in room 705. She demands them, cuts through Peter’s initial webs, and attacks Meng Fan with a Blood Blade. Meng Fan subdues her and concludes that the apples increase hunger and create dependence; the group suspects a connection to the Poppy Devil 44.

Power is taken to Public Safety headquarters and locked in a cell, where she threatens to eat other prisoners unless given apples. Makima allows three days for her recovery before execution 45.

Neither roast chicken nor Yuumi’s presence breaks her fixation. As the deadline approaches, Makima orders Denji to carry out the execution, Meng Fan promises to prevent it, and Aki privately appeals for help. With less than a night remaining, Meng Fan follows Natsume Fan Zhi’s information to a nightclub in search of the Poppy Devil; Power’s recovery is not established in the supplied passages 47 48.
