Ch. 21Days with the Demon Slayer Corps

The Sapphire Star accepted Kagaya Ubuyashiki’s offer to train at Corps headquarters and improved her control of her power. When Mount Natagumo went silent, she was ordered to reinforce Giyu Tomioka and Shinobu Kocho, and the three split up to search the mountain.

  • Kagaya Ubuyashiki apologized for Sanemi’s disruption, and the Sapphire Star thanked him for Sanemi’s combat advice.
  • Kagaya Ubuyashiki offered the Sapphire Star access to the headquarters training grounds, where she practiced and sparred with Corps members.
  • Hikigusa told the Sapphire Star that Kakushi members and three patrol squads had vanished at Mount Natagumo, so she set out to reinforce Giyu Tomioka and Shinobu Kocho.
  • At Mount Natagumo, Shinobu Kocho warned that the thick fog impaired their senses and that enemies might control fallen Corps members as puppets.
  • The Sapphire Star, Giyu Tomioka, and Shinobu Kocho chose separate routes, and the Sapphire Star entered the fog-covered mountain.

Ch. 22Meeting Familiar Faces on Mount Natagumo

The Sapphire Star witnessed Giyu Tomioka defeat Rui and stop Shinobu Kocho from killing Nezuko, Tanjiro Kamado’s demon sister. She accompanied Shinobu and the Kakushi as they took Tanjiro and Nezuko to Demon Slayer Corps Headquarters, where the Corps would decide their fate.

  • The Sapphire Star followed Tanjiro’s surging power through the fog and found Giyu Tomioka standing over the dissolving body of Lower Rank Five, Rui, while Tanjiro lay wounded beside Nezuko.
  • The Sapphire Star prepared to attack Nezuko, but Giyu blocked her and explained that Nezuko was Tanjiro’s sister and had not eaten anyone.
  • Shinobu Kocho tried to stab Nezuko, but Giyu restrained her; Shinobu then poisoned Tanjiro, and the Kakushi bound Nezuko and carried both siblings away.
  • The Sapphire Star questioned Giyu and learned why he had protected Nezuko, then noticed Shinobu’s anger and agreed to accompany her to headquarters as a witness.
  • The Sapphire Star asked Shinobu what would happen to Tanjiro and Nezuko as they reached Demon Slayer Corps Headquarters before dawn.

Ch. 23The trial of Tanjiro and Nezuko

Tanjiro and the Sapphire Star defended Nezuko before the Hashira, and Nezuko resisted Sanemi’s rare blood while Tanjiro comforted her. Kagaya allowed the siblings to continue their demon-slaying duties under the supervision of Giyu Tomioka and the Sapphire Star.

  • Tanjiro pleaded with Kagaya Ubuyashiki and the Hashira to believe that Nezuko would never eat anyone, while Giyu Tomioka stood between Sanemi Shinazugawa and the box.
  • The Sapphire Star testified that Nezuko had protected Tanjiro at Mount Natagumo, but Sanemi dismissed her account and attacked the box.
  • Tanjiro broke free of his restraints and charged into Sanemi, then shielded Nezuko’s box as Sanemi cut his arm to tempt her with rare blood.
  • Tanjiro reassured Nezuko until the shaking box grew quiet, proving she could resist the blood, and the Sapphire Star healed Tanjiro and Sanemi with a special powder.
  • The Sapphire Star argued that Nezuko’s example could mean demons might be cured, and Kagaya allowed Nezuko to live and continue demon-slaying duties with Tanjiro under Giyu Tomioka and the Sapphire Star’s joint supervision.

Ch. 24Dropping by the Butterfly Mansion

At the Butterfly Mansion, Sapphire Star visited Tanjiro and the others, saw Tanjiro awaken a steady breathing rhythm, and put Zenitsu and Inosuke through brutal training. After telling the group about her life as a hunter, she announced that the boys would train again that night.

  • Sapphire Star learned that Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke were recovering at the Butterfly Mansion and went there to visit them.
  • Aoi Kanzaki caught Sapphire Star peeking over the wall, then welcomed her inside to see the boys.
  • Tanjiro collapsed during breathing practice but unconsciously maintained a deep, steady rhythm, and Sapphire Star predicted he would grow stronger.
  • Sapphire Star put Zenitsu and Inosuke through punishing dodge and combat drills, using Lifepowder to restore them whenever they were close to collapsing.
  • At dinner, Tanjiro praised Sapphire Star's training as she described her travels and monster-hunting life in the Old World and New World.
  • Sapphire Star told Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke to eat their fill and prepare for another training session that night.

Ch. 25The Plague Ravaging Toritani Village

The Sapphire Star traveled to Tsutaya Village to investigate an epidemic that caused fever, vomiting, and painful reactions to sunlight. After easing the villagers’ symptoms with medicine, she learned the illness was linked to the Rotten Wood Shrine and headed into the mountain to investigate.

  • Hikigusa told the Sapphire Star that villagers in Tsutaya Village were falling ill and disappearing, and the Sapphire Star set out despite warnings to be cautious.
  • The Sapphire Star entered the stricken village and used herbal powder to ease the worst skin symptoms, then prepared diluted Herbal Medicine for the villagers to drink.
  • The village headman explained that the illness began after Genjiro visited the Rotten Wood Shrine, and that later worshippers and shrine cleaners fell sick as well.
  • The Sapphire Star gave the headman medicine and instructions for treating further cases, then went alone toward the Rotten Wood Shrine.

Ch. 26Miasma Forest

The Sapphire Star traced the demons’ plague scheme to corrupted incense ash at the Rotten Wood Shrine, then waited for them to attack. After they trapped her in poisonous miasma, she blasted the fog apart with Divine Iai and exposed the fleeing demons, whom the Scoutflies began tracking.

  • The Sapphire Star used Scoutflies to find demon blood mixed into incense ash at the shrine and inferred that worshippers had been infected by the demons’ plague.
  • The Sapphire Star waited at the shrine while Byōga and another demon watched from hiding and resolved to attack her with their miasma for Lord Muzan.
  • After night fell, the demons surrounded the Sapphire Star with Corrupting Poison Miasma, but she walked into the forest despite being unable to see through it.
  • The Sapphire Star grew frustrated, unleashed Divine Iai, and cleared the miasma while destroying trees and rocks around her.
  • The wounded demons fled as the miasma dissipated, and the Scoutflies locked onto their scent trails.

Ch. 27Lower Rank Three plus Six? Doesn't that make Lower Rank Nine?

The Sapphire Star fought a grotesque demon fused from Lower Rank Six, Three, and Two, using fire to disrupt its stitching and regeneration. As the demon revealed Rokuro as its Lower Rank Two persona, he began a faster, more dangerous assault.

  • The demon tried to escape the Scoutflies, but the Sapphire Star struck it with her Clutch Claw and forced it to tear off its own shoulder to escape.
  • The Sapphire Star identified the fused demon’s Lower Rank Six and Three personas as Kamanué and Byōga, then attacked Byōga with her Fatalis Demolisher.
  • Byōga regenerated from the Sapphire Star’s slashes, but she burned its eyes and stitching with Igni Sign before launching a Sakura Spirit Blade attack.
  • Kamanué used a hidden half of a Nichirin Blade in the demon’s belly mouth to deflect the Sapphire Star’s attack, then the demon transformed and revealed the Lower Rank Two marking.
  • Rokuro introduced himself as Lower Rank Two, regenerated his shattered hands after the Sapphire Star’s cold blade injured them, and promised to stop holding back.

Ch. 28Scattered, a Sky Full of Stars; Together, a Pile of Shit

The Sapphire Star split Rokuro’s fused body with a Helm Breaker Slash, but the demon launched its head into the forest to escape. She burned the remains and pursued the head as Rokuro, Byōga, and Kamanué fused with a deer and fled deeper into the mountains.

  • Rokuro attacked the Sapphire Star through poisonous mist, but she used a Mega Barrel Bomb to expose him and struck the eye marked “Two” with a Helm Breaker Slash.
  • The Sapphire Star’s armor resisted Rokuro’s poison, and she tried to finish him, but Byōga and Kamanué helped blast Rokuro’s head away from his body.
  • The Sapphire Star set Rokuro’s regenerating remains on fire and ran after his fleeing head.
  • Rokuro, Byōga, and Kamanué argued inside the severed head until Rokuro spotted a deer and drained its blood.
  • Rokuro fused the head with the deer’s body, and the stitched demon fled through the forest while the three continued arguing.

Ch. 29To the ends of the world with you, my beloved

The Sapphire Star defeated the fused Lower Ranks Rokuro, Byōga, and Kamanué, sealed their head with a Nergigante spike, and brought it to Demon Slayer Corps Headquarters. After Kagaya Ubuyashiki praised her and recalled how her medicines had helped the Corps, she set off to deliver the sealed head to Tanjiro.

  • Byōga fled the Sapphire Star, but she blinded the fused demon with a flash bomb and stopped its regeneration by driving a Nergigante spike into its head.
  • Muzan Kibutsuji felt the blood ties to Rokuro, Byōga, and Kamanué snap, lashed out in pain, and killed his adoptive parents when they entered his room.
  • The Sapphire Star cut off and wrapped the fused demon's head, then checked the burned battlefield before meeting Hikigusa outside Tsutaya Village.
  • A Kasugai Crow reported that the Sapphire Star had killed all three Lower Ranks, shocking Kagaya Ubuyashiki, Sanemi Shinazugawa, and Obanai Iguro.
  • The Sapphire Star brought the sealed head to Kagaya, who suggested giving it to Tanjiro, and she headed for the Butterfly Mansion.
  • Kagaya recalled how the Sapphire Star's medicines and her work with Shinobu Kocho had improved the Corps' chances of saving wounded swordsmen and eased his illness.

Ch. 30Mugen Train

The Sapphire Star gave Tanjiro a Sleep Resistance Charm and a Lower Rank demon’s head before Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke left to meet Kyojuro Rengoku aboard the Mugen Train. The charm helped the swordsmen resist Enmu’s Blood Demon Art, and after they defeated the demon and derailed his train body, Rengoku faced a mysterious figure on the tracks.

  • The Sapphire Star gave Tanjiro a necklace that resisted sleep and a Lower Rank demon’s head, which Tanjiro sent with Chachamaru to Tamayo.
  • Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke boarded the Mugen Train and met Kyojuro Rengoku.
  • Enmu used his Blood Demon Art to put the passengers and most of the swordsmen to sleep, but Tanjiro’s necklace protected him and Rengoku.
  • Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke attacked Enmu on the roof, then worked with Rengoku and Nezuko to sever the demon’s train body and destroy his spine.
  • Rengoku praised Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu after the train crashed, then turned toward a figure waiting on the tracks.

Ch. 31Lifesaving medicine or poison

The Sapphire Star saved Kyojuro Rengoku from dying at the Butterfly Mansion, then learned that the Ancient Potion she had given him let him revive and fight Akaza beyond his limits. As Rengoku remained gravely weakened, she questioned whether her medicine had given him hope only to drive him toward greater suffering.

  • Hikigusa woke the Sapphire Star and told her that Kyojuro Rengoku had returned critically wounded after fighting Lower Rank One and Upper Rank Three.
  • The Sapphire Star used Might Lifepowder, Great Sushifish Scale Lifepowder, and a Max Potion to stop Rengoku's bleeding and bring him out of immediate danger.
  • Tanjiro explained that Rengoku had taken the Ancient Potion after Akaza punched through his chest, then fought Akaza again with restored strength.
  • Rengoku's renewed attacks injured Akaza, but his borrowed vitality faded as the battle continued, and Akaza escaped when dawn arrived.
  • The Sapphire Star realized that her medicine had enabled Rengoku to keep fighting until he collapsed, and she began to doubt whether the potion had helped him.

Ch. 32What do you take life for?!

The Sapphire Star tracked Akaza to Muzan Kibutsuji’s mansion and attacked, forcing Muzan into a brutal fight. Muzan’s terror caused his body to explode, but Akaza’s intervention let several pieces escape, leaving the Sapphire Star to turn on him.

  • Muzan reprimanded Akaza for failing to kill the Hashira and fleeing from the sun, then ordered him to deal with the pursuer tracking him.
  • The Sapphire Star followed the Scoutflies’ trail from the Mugen Train wreckage to Muzan’s Western-style mansion.
  • The Sapphire Star burst into Muzan’s study and used her Clutch Claw to drag him outside, where she fought him with her Fatalis Blade and hunting tools.
  • The Sapphire Star’s words reminded Muzan of Yoriichi, and Muzan lost control and exploded into pieces.
  • Akaza arrived and knocked the Sapphire Star’s blade aside, allowing several of Muzan’s flesh fragments to escape; the Sapphire Star accused Akaza of getting away.

Ch. 33I'm Doma, the Weakest of the Twelve Kizuki

Akaza’s desire to fight the Sapphire Star was overridden by Muzan’s order to flee, so he disguised himself as Doma and escaped. The Sapphire Star lost his trail and, frustrated by another failed hunt and the damage she caused, questioned whether she was fit to lead the Fifth Fleet.

  • Akaza prepared to fight the Sapphire Star until Muzan ordered him to hide his rank and run.
  • Akaza claimed he was Doma, a reserve member of the Twelve Kizuki, then pretended to unleash a powerful Blood Demon Art.
  • Akaza used his dramatic setup as cover to sprint away from the Sapphire Star.
  • The Sapphire Star sent Scoutflies after Akaza, but his trail vanished after a kilometer or two.
  • The Sapphire Star destroyed a boulder in frustration and lamented that her hunt had failed and she was not fit to lead the Fifth Fleet.

Ch. 34The Sapphire Star Who Lit the Way

Muzan ordered Akaza to gather demons with mental Blood Demon Arts after the Sapphire Star drove him and Akaza from their confrontation, then fell asleep after a nightmare about the Blue Spider Lily and Yoriichi. At the Butterfly Mansion, news of the Sapphire Star’s fight with Muzan and Akaza revived the spirits of the gathered Hashira and the recovering Kyojuro Rengoku.

  • Muzan pulled Akaza into the Infinity Castle, chastised him for nearly fighting back, and ordered him to find demons with abilities that could interfere with minds.
  • Muzan fell asleep while regretting that the Blue Spider Lily information had been destroyed, then woke in terror from a nightmare about the flower, Yoriichi, and the Sapphire Star.
  • Kokushibo arrived after Muzan’s scream, and Muzan told him to find and dig up a man’s grave.
  • At the Butterfly Mansion, Kagaya Ubuyashiki and the Hashira grieved over the gravely injured Kyojuro Rengoku as a Kasugai Crow reported that the Sapphire Star had confronted Muzan and Akaza near Tokyo.
  • The crow reported that Muzan blew himself apart to escape and that Akaza fled after the Sapphire Star chased him, prompting Kyojuro to open the recovery room door and praise her strength.

Ch. 35Entertainment District or Demon District?

The Sapphire Star searched the Entertainment District for Akaza and discovered a demon had killed the Kyogoku House proprietress, but she lost the trail through a hidden passage. Muzan arrived in the district and ordered Daki to search for records of the Blue Spider Lily, while the Sapphire Star remained unaware of his presence.

  • The Demon Slayer Corps searched for the missing Sapphire Star, but Hikigusa found her trail ended in a ravaged valley.
  • The Sapphire Star hunted for Akaza in the Entertainment District and rushed toward a scream, arriving after the Kyogoku House proprietress had been killed.
  • The Sapphire Star found a concealed passage and sent Scoutflies after the demon, but they followed a trail to an empty space.
  • Daki sensed Muzan's arrival and hurried to meet him after killing the proprietress.
  • Muzan praised Daki and ordered her to search the Entertainment District's network for books and other records about the Blue Spider Lily.
  • Daki returned to the Kyogoku House to begin the search, while Muzan descended toward the district's crowds.

Ch. 36Oh Crap, the Sapphire Star Is Still Chasing Me

Muzan tried to evade the Sapphire Star in the Entertainment District by disguising himself as a woman, then escaped through a doorway Nakime opened. The Sapphire Star followed him through the doorway, leaving Muzan's refuge compromised.

  • Muzan spotted the Sapphire Star on a rooftop and transformed into a woman to blend into the crowd.
  • A drunk grabbed Muzan, but Muzan twisted his wrist and escaped while bystanders drove the man away.
  • The Sapphire Star heard the commotion and decided to follow the kimono-clad woman to protect her from further harassment.
  • Nakime opened a doorway in an alley, and Muzan hurried through it in relief.
  • The Sapphire Star put on the Ghillie Mantle and slipped through the doorway after Muzan.

Ch. 37Unleash your imagination, Muzan!

Muzan fled Sapphire Star through the Infinity Castle and ordered Nakime to unleash his unstable fusion weapon, Nameless Hundred Faces. After the weapon forced Sapphire Star out of the castle, Muzan celebrated and ordered the castle hidden, then panicked when he learned Nakime had sent her back to the Entertainment District.

  • Muzan celebrated escaping Sapphire Star, but she appeared behind him inside the Infinity Castle and began pursuing him.
  • Nakime raised barriers and twisted the castle’s corridors as Muzan ordered her to release his unfinished weapon.
  • Nameless Hundred Faces emerged from its chained cage and conjured a powerful Hand Demon that struck Sapphire Star.
  • Nakime opened an exit, sending Sapphire Star and the Hand Demon to the Entertainment District, where the Hand Demon dissolved.
  • Muzan praised Nameless Hundred Faces and ordered Nakime to hide the Infinity Castle, then screamed when she revealed Sapphire Star had been sent back to the Entertainment District.

Ch. 38That Super-Flashy Man Showed Up Too

Tengen Uzui found the missing Sapphire Star hiding on a warehouse roof in the Entertainment District, where she explained her mistaken encounters with Muzan and Akaza. He told her a demon was likely behind the district’s missing women and left her to pursue the investigation separately, while she vowed to take revenge on Muzan.

  • Tengen discovered the Sapphire Star eating on a warehouse roof and told her that the Demon Slayer Corps had searched for her for nearly a month.
  • The Sapphire Star said she had survived a fight with Akaza and Doma, mistaking Muzan for Akaza and the real Akaza for Doma.
  • Tengen explained that he and the three young Demon Slayers were investigating disappearances in the Entertainment District, and the Sapphire Star agreed to work separately.
  • Before vanishing with a smoke bomb, Tengen corrected the Sapphire Star’s mistaken identities, telling her that her Akaza had been Muzan and her Doma had been Akaza.
  • The Sapphire Star angrily vowed to beat Muzan the next time she saw him, while Muzan sneezed in the Infinity Castle and asked Nakime for towels.

Ch. 39Upper Rank Six Made a Flashy Entrance, Then a Flashy Exit

Sapphire Star entered the battle at Kyogoku House and swiftly beheaded Daki and Gyutaro, leaving Tanjiro and Tengen stunned. Muzan learned the Upper Rank Six siblings had died and discovered Kokushibo had returned and was silently guarding his doorway.

  • Sapphire Star heard Tanjiro fighting Daki at Kyogoku House and rushed in, cutting off Daki's head with one strike.
  • Sapphire Star wounded Gyutaro when he emerged from Daki's back, and Gyutaro reattached Daki's head.
  • Tengen Uzui arrived, and Sapphire Star beheaded both Daki and Gyutaro before either could finish speaking.
  • Sapphire Star threatened Tengen while Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke watched the demons struggle to reattach their heads.
  • Muzan woke when Daki and Gyutaro's presences vanished, blamed Nakime for sending Sapphire Star to the Entertainment District, and demanded news of Kokushibo.
  • Nakime told Muzan that Kokushibo had returned and was standing guard outside his door, leaving Muzan furious and embarrassed.

Ch. 40What Was Hundred Faces?

At Corps Headquarters, Sapphire Star and Kagaya connected their strange experiences to the mysterious Hundred Faces and warned that he could interfere with supernatural powers. In the Infinity Castle, Hundred Faces took on Yoriichi Tsugikuni’s body and set out to kill Sapphire Star, while Yoriichi’s lingering will resisted him.

  • Kagaya thanked Sapphire Star, Tengen Uzui, Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke for defeating Upper Rank Six, and Sapphire Star described Hundred Faces interrupting his attempt to kill Muzan.
  • Kagaya revealed that he had experienced a strange memory of a being called Killer Queen on the same night Sapphire Star encountered the Hand Demon, and he warned the Corps about Hundred Faces.
  • Muzan ordered Kokushibo to give Yoriichi Tsugikuni’s remains to Hundred Faces so he could use them as a body.
  • Hundred Faces rebuilt Yoriichi’s body and awakened in it, but said Yoriichi’s lingering will was resisting his control.
  • Kokushibo drew his sword on Hundred Faces after he taunted him, but Muzan ordered Hundred Faces to kill Sapphire Star, and Hundred Faces departed.
