"To reach the Land of Shadow, you need to..."

The Tarnished was about to give the answer when Morgott raised a hand to stop him.

"It is enough that you are willing to honor your promise. We shall discuss the rest in private."

The Land of Shadow was, after all, a place the Goddess had personally concealed. Though he did not know why, the Grace-Given King had decided to keep that secret. Those uninvolved had no need to know.

Tanith's eyes shifted, keenly picking out the leverage she needed to sway the others.

"Oh my." The mistress of Volcano Manor covered her lips with a hand, her gentle voice concealing a sharp edge. "Now that we are allies, surely we should be of one heart and mind. Will the Grace-Given King's secrecy not leave us all disheartened?" She turned her gaze toward Jerren and Ranni. "What do you two think?"

Out of consideration for the promised supplies, Jerren said nothing, but that silence was a statement in itself. His expression visibly darkened. As a scholar, Ranni was also quite curious about the Land of Shadow. Being refused by the Tarnished earlier was one thing, but now that she was being excluded again, she felt a flicker of displeasure.

Tanith had precisely ignited those faint emotions. Exploiting people's resentment and darker impulses was what this woman did best.

Seeing the situation gradually fall under her control, Tanith secretly rejoiced and continued in a gentle voice. "If you ask me, the Grace-Given King need not be so stingy. What harm could there be in telling us about the Land of Shadow? Our Five-Party Alliance exists to support one another. One person's strength is limited, but together we can accomplish much. Whatever the Grace-Given King intends, surely everyone here could lend a hand.
