In ancient times, chaos reigned across the land.
Powerful gods roamed the earth.
Then the Archon War erupted. Its final seven victors became The Seven who ruled the mortal world-the Seven Archons of today.
Back then, Mondstadt was a barren land battered by wind and snow, buried beneath thick drifts. Few gods had any interest in such territory.
According to what was known today, only three gods had participated in Mondstadt's Archon War: Decarabian, the God of Storms; Andrius, the King Wolf of the North Wind; and Barbatos, the current Anemo Archon.
After Decarabian's death, only Andrius and Barbatos remained as candidates for the seat of the Anemo Archon.
But Andrius believed that, since he disliked humans, he was unworthy of becoming the Anemo Archon. And so Barbatos, the only one left, somehow became the Anemo Archon.
After becoming the Anemo Archon, Barbatos summoned divine winds to cleave the mountains, dispel the snowstorms, and bring warm breezes to the land. Only then did the Mondstadt of today come into being.
Unlike Mondstadt, its neighbor Liyue had been fertile and rich in resources since ancient times.
Countless gods had waged war to seize that fertile land.
Thus, during the Archon War, Liyue became the bloodiest battlefield of all.
Countless gods were either slain in battle or sealed away.
But though a god's body could die, its resentment and power would remain.
The archon residue left behind after the death of Inazuma's serpent god, Orobashi, could affect the environment of an entire island, displacing countless islanders and leaving untold numbers dead or injured.
If the residue left by Orobashi alone was so terrifying, how many gods lay buried beneath Liyue, the bloodiest battlefield of the Archon War?
How terrifying was the archon residue in this land?
Once archon residue spread, it would
