In Black Seal City, Yuan Yi, the leader of the Eight Gates, was reviewing the many recent happenings in the Black-Corner Region.
The Eight Gates he ran was no ordinary faction. Because of the Black Seal Auction, he needed to keep a constant eye on shifts among the region's various powers so he could figure out how best to maneuver between them.
As someone who had thrived in the Black-Corner Region through business, Yuan Yi knew full well how important intelligence was. Unlike other factions, his people did not huddle inside their own cities, living out their days guarding their little patches of land. Instead, they were spread across almost every corner of the Black-Corner Region, gathering information and building friendly ties with different factions to support his auction house and intelligence business.
But... the factions in the Black-Corner Region were frighteningly numerous and tangled.
Someone had to be at least a Dou Wang to catch Yuan Yi's eye.

The subordinate standing beside Yuan Yi explained with a somewhat embarrassed expression.
