Number One usually came to see Chu Mu in the afternoon to bring him his medicine.
But today, she was late.
She did not come down until evening.
The moment that distinctive rhythm of heels echoed down the corridor, Chu Mu knew the woman had arrived.
She never knocked. Instead, she simply took out her key and opened the door.
Chu Mu and Herta were sitting on the sofa, facing the doorway.
Number One walked in and instinctively reached for the light cord beside the door. But when she realized Herta was there and the light was already on, she lowered her hand.
She looked at Herta and asked flatly,
"Did you two do it?"
Herta's face instantly turned scarlet, though it was hard to tell whether from shyness or anger.
Lowering her voice, she asked timidly,
"A-are you going to check?"
Number One shook her head and said,
"I only care about the result. I trust I won't have to wait too long. Don't disappoint me."
Herta let out a barely audible "Mm" and lowered her head.
Chu Mu sighed at this point.
"Sis, aren't you rushing things a little too much?"
"I'm in no hurry," Number One said coldly. "Someone else is getting impatient now."
After a pause, she continued,
"Number Seven came back last night. She wanted to hold a Coming-of-Age Ceremony for you. I told her you're already an adult, so there's no need. Don't you agree?"
Chu Mu shook his head.
"I don't think you and Number Seven are talking about the same thing. Number Seven cares about the ceremony. You care more about the facts."
"Are you blaming me?" Number One frowned.
"I wouldn't dare," Chu Mu said flatly.
Number One drew a breath and said,
"It seems you're more interested in the ceremony
