Chu Mu sent another message to Judge Xueyi.
Hunting down fugitives was, after all, part of the Ten-Lords Commission's job.
Xueyi said she could not spare the time just yet, so she had passed the task on to a lieutenant of the Cloud Knights.
He was nearby and would arrive soon.
Chu Mu had originally planned to stay out of sight and simply observe in secret.
But just then, the suspicious man in the alley suddenly made a move.
Judging by his furtive behavior, he was probably planning to leave!
If I let him get away and that Cloud Knight Lieutenant arrives to find no one here, won't he think I'm playing him for a fool?
Left with no choice, Chu Mu returned to his original body and went to the alley near the suspicious man.
Pretending it was a chance encounter, Chu Mu came face-to-face with him.
"Oh? It's you, sir! We meet again!" Chu Mu said cheerfully.
He kept his tone as friendly as possible to lower the man's guard.
Sure enough, the man initially raised his sword warily when he saw someone approaching. Once he recognized Chu Mu, however, he lowered it again.
The man asked in a low voice:
"Why are you still here?"
"Uh... that's a story about ignoring good advice and paying the price." Chu Mu spread his hands. "Now I couldn't leave even if I wanted to. I should have listened when you urged me to leave the day before yesterday."
The man fell silent.
Then Chu Mu asked curiously:
"You seem to be injured, sir. Is it serious?"
The man always carried a heavy smell of blood.
At Chu Mu's concern, the man lowered his head to look at his bandaged hand. The bandages over his palm were already soaked with blood.
