"Why did the waves suddenly get so big?"
Outside the harbor, Sampo clung to the mast as an enormous wave lifted the ship more than ten meters into the air, then sent it crashing down!
Without a moon, Deep Blue Star had much weaker tidal forces than other planets. Waves as enormous as these were exceedingly rare!
Sampo glanced out across the distant sea and found that everywhere else was perfectly calm. Only the waters around his ship were churning!
The ship's seasoned lookout immediately spotted the anomaly and began shouting at the top of his lungs:
"Get out of here! There's something huge in the water!"
The ship's steam engine roared into full throttle as they tried to escape!
But the churning waves gradually rolled toward the harbor.
Only once the ship had steadied did Sampo release his grip and climb down from the mast.
He took a collapsible telescope from his pocket, extended it with a click, and looked toward the harbor.
Sampo could just make out an enormous sea serpent beneath the surface!
Its mottled blue-black body seemed to blend into the deep sea.
The giant serpent was several thousand meters long!
The sea serpent broke the surface inside the harbor, revealing its enormous head.
Perched atop its head was a huge, rust-covered ship!
Something seemed to be living inside that ship. Countless tightly packed tentacles extended from its hull and pierced the giant serpent's head.
The deck was crowded with people dressed in black.
The telescope couldn't reveal much detail, but Sampo was certain that this was the ship once used to exile the Black Sun Cultists. None of the people aboard had eyes!
As the Moment of the Eclipse arrived-
A long, resonant whistle rang out. It wasn't the cry of steam, but the howling
