Tide Sis is the black-haired, golden-eyed female Rover. Her delicate face and expressive gaze feature prominently in her interactions with Ling An 2 6.

Personality

Tide Sis is affectionate, teasing, and possessive toward Ling An. She initially calls him her “little sidekick,” changes that description to “Emergency Food” when he protests, and frequently carries or cuddles his cat form. Her interest extends to Crownless himself: she openly prefers him alive to absorbed as an Echo and later insists that his true form belongs to her alone 2 3 27.

Her jealousy often takes the form of quiet questioning, exaggerated threats, and playful punishments. After seeing Yinlin carry Ling An, she asks whether he needs a collar to learn to behave; after catching him following her to the library, she promises to teach him a lesson. Nevertheless, she lets him visit Yinlin and reassures him when Scar raises the possibility that Dreamless could turn him against Jinzhou 23 27 29 30.

Outside these intimate exchanges, she is composed and capable. Ling An initially mistakes her for someone who relies on brute strength, but revises his judgment after watching her solve the Huanglan Library’s mechanisms in less than ten minutes. She also convincingly pretends not to notice Scar following her, helping draw him into Jinhsi’s ambush 28 29.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Sparing Crownless

Tide Sis enters the dormant Tacet Field with Chixia, Baizhi, and Yangyang, where Ling An confronts them as Crownless. After he knocks the other three unconscious, she defeats him in single combat. Rather than taking his Echo, she invites him to accompany her and suggests that devouring other Tacet Discords could make him stronger 1 2.

When Ling An objects that Jinzhou’s Central Resonance Beacon would prevent his entry, she asks whether he can become smaller. He transforms into a gray cat, which she immediately picks up. Her decision to spare him becomes the key departure from the outcome the Black Shores observers had expected 2 45.

Jinzhou and Qichi Village

As Jinhsi’s honored guest, Tide Sis receives accommodations in Jinzhou. Her association with Ling An also influences Jinhsi’s decision to trust him despite knowing that he is a powerful Tacet Discord 4 7 16.

Following Jinhsi’s leaf token, she travels to Qichi Village with Yangyang and Ling An. Scar separates them with an illusion. Tide Sis later explains that she attacked from outside to divide Scar’s strength while Ling An fought him within 12 13 14 29.

Soul-Return Mutual Aid Society

At Chixia’s request, Tide Sis infiltrates the Society and unexpectedly catches Ling An arriving with Yinlin. She and Ling An investigate the camp, discovering that the Puppet Master is Yinlin’s adoptive father and that Yinlin intends to stop his crimes 23 24.

They cooperate with Yinlin to reach the production facility and confront the Puppet Master. Ling An destroys his Mechanical Construct while Tide Sis watches, then returns to cat form and lands in her arms. After the capture, she supports Ling An’s request that Chixia receive most of the credit 24 25 26.

Capturing Scar

After deciphering the Sundial, Tide Sis heads to the Huanglan Library for an ambush arranged with Jinhsi and Sanhua. Ling An follows without permission. Tide Sis solves the library’s mechanisms and draws Scar into the inner hall, where the arrest operation begins 28 29.

Scar traps her and Ling An inside another illusion and again asks her to join the Fractsidus. She answers that she has already made her choice. Her Spectro assault overwhelms him, collapses his transformation, and ends the illusion 29 30.

During the interrogation, Scar warns that Dreamless’s awakening could make Ling An a danger to Jinzhou. Tide Sis responds by accepting responsibility for the companion she brought out of the Tacet Field and promising that no one will get past her to hurt him 30.

Searching for the Black Shores

Tide Sis has lost her memories, and her identity remains unresolved. Jinhsi reveals that Black Shores members asked about her on the day she awakened and gives her a photograph of their Black Flower token. Jinhsi also relays Jué’s instruction to seek Jiyan in the Norfall Barrens when the downpour flows backward 28 31.

The search leads her and Yangyang to Verina, who makes an imitation Black Flower. On learning that Ling An has gone to the summit with Camellya, Tide Sis heads into danger and helps repel Camellya’s vines. Back in Jinzhou, she and Yangyang plan to wear the imitation flower to draw out Black Shores members. She is later present with Chixia while they question Aalto 44 46 50.
