They broke free of P.a.p.p.y.'s embrace.
"Killer, I already came up with a plan while we were being hugged."
Murder said this with a thoroughly dependable expression-if only his face hadn't been blue-green.
"Murder, you're looking way too healthy!!"
"Cut the wisecracks. Do you remember how we defeated [it] last time?"
Killer's mind raced, and an idea suddenly struck her.
"...You mean, satisfy [it], then use the pendant to shatter it?"
During the last battle, Murder had satisfied it by giving it plenty of ketchup.
Once it was satisfied, Murder had taken out the pendant-and afterward, a whole crowd of Sans had appeared.
Even [it] had vanished.
From that, they could guess that [it] might be an amalgamation of many alternate counterparts.
[It] also represented the will of every individual within it.
If they satisfied [it], it would willingly let the pendant shatter it.
"So... to satisfy this entity that reeks of rotten flesh..."
"We need to make spaghetti."
Murder finished Killer's sentence while dodging the arms reaching out of P.a.p.p.y.'s forehead.
"But... we don't have what we need to make spaghetti right now."
"Then what should we do?"
Killer asked. They had already spent ages dodging P.a.p.p.y.'s attacks here. If Murder couldn't think of anything, they would have to wait even longer.
"Maybe... we need to wash them?"
Murder recalled the Papyrus from his own timeline. Long ago, he had absolutely loved baths-and liked having Murder come in to help wash him.
Maybe... washing this entity could satisfy them too?
Putting that thought into action, Murder tried to simulate resonance with the water element in the air. Before long, he had formed a water projectile.
"Murder, you can do that too? I've been meaning to ask-how do you know other monsters' moves?"
Watching Murder form the water projectile, Killer remembered the flames from earlier and was suddenly puzzled.
"During my battles with the human, I tried lots of ways to break the deadlock. Imitating other people's attacks was one of them."
Murder explained it to Killer.
"But... these imitation attacks are all flash and no substance. They drain both stamina and magic far more than you'd expect..."
He said no more. Murder slowly pushed the water projectile onto P.a.p.p.y.'s body.
Splash~
After being washed once, their heads stopped screaming.
"That's better..."
Without the entity's screeching, Killer felt that her ears had finally found some peace.
Suddenly, a small part of the entity before them sank underground.
"Huh?... Watch out, Murder!"
Seeing their movement, the battle-hardened Killer immediately understood everything.
She called out a warning to Murder while flying into the air herself.
Sure enough, the instant Murder flew up, P.a.p.p.y.'s hands covered the ground. Those hands kept dancing away with youthful vigor, looking utterly disgusting.
"Oh dear~"
Killer made a cutesy sound, earning a sidelong look from Murder.
"Okay... since that worked, let's try it again."
Murder formed another, larger water projectile and hurled it at P.a.p.p.y.'s body.
Using gravity magic, Murder also washed out the black holes in several of the entity's heads.
Immediately, [they] stood straighter.
The hands on the ground waved faster, and P.a.p.p.y.'s heads began firing lasers.
Luckily, many of the lasers those heads fired were orange, and the two easily dodged their way through.
"One last wash..."
He repeated his earlier actions once more. This time, Papalgamate looked friendlier.
The arms on the ground and the lasers from their heads all vanished.
Papalgamate pulled the two into another embrace. This time, they no longer smelled of rotten flesh.
"Killer, I feel... that pendant vibrating."
"Huh?... You mean that super-invincible pendant you used to separate that tire before?"
"Yes."
Taking out the pendant, Murder reached out with a somewhat practiced motion to touch Papalgamate's enormous black soul.
Crack.
Crack.
Crunch.
The enormous black soul shattered, and countless monster souls burst out of it.
The souls scattered.
Two souls fell down.
It was time to reset.
But,
some things,
had changed.
Had changed.
Had changed.
