In the scene before them, Linde stood calmly on a spacious, brightly lit platform, giving detailed, expert instruction in magic to the many attentive humans seated below.
(For details, see Chapters 18-20.)
On the screen, Linde began explaining in a steady, authoritative voice, "Magic is a form of combat created by the Demon Clan."
Yet the moment he finished speaking, the monsters Papyrus had summoned to the room exchanged bewildered looks.
The confusion on their faces made it clear that every monster present seemed completely unfamiliar with the so-called "Demon Clan."
Even the usually steady, composed Asgore could not help furrowing his brow as he pondered to himself.
The Demon Clan? Why have I never heard of them? And among the vast collection of books passed down through our royal line, there isn't even the slightest mention of them!
What is going on? Could there be some unknown secret behind all this?
With that thought, Asgore quietly resolved to find a suitable opportunity to ask Semi or Gorson in person and see whether they knew anything about the Demon Clan.
For the time being, the monsters set their questions aside and continued watching the fascinating scenes unfolding on the screen with rapt attention.
But when their eyes fell upon Villar's black soul, which radiated an eerie black glow, their barely settled emotions flared up again, and a fresh wave of questions rose in their minds...
"What was the world even like back then...?" the monsters whispered among themselves.
Before long, however, the exciting duel about to begin swept their doubts aside.
At a single command, the one-against-three sparring match between Linde and the three children officially began!
Of the six monsters present, three were seeing Linde take to the battlefield and demonstrate his true strength for the very first time.
