Harvey’s family lives in the Backstreets, where Rats and Scavengers threaten residents with dismemberment and death. He remembers a younger sibling who had not yet learned to talk and hopes to survive long enough to hear the child call him “big brother” 6.

Despite being a veteran employee, Harvey knows no safe way to leave Lobotomy Corporation. When a cleaner asks how to return to his own child, Harvey apologizes and admits that he does not know how to get out alive either 6.

Nevertheless, when wounded, he repeatedly offers to hold off the Sweepers so Shen Yu can escape 6 7.

His enthusiasm for Old Era fiction colors his expectations: Shen Yu’s unusual techniques make him wonder whether the apparent rookie is secretly an overwhelming fighter. After accepting Shen Yu’s fabricated account of the manager sacrificing himself to create Little Knight, Harvey becomes openly devoted to helping the supposed suppression project 7.
