"Who was that just now?" Harry asked, looking shaken and uncertain.
Ever since killing the spiders in the Forbidden Forest, Harry and Ron had been pestering Tris to teach them shadow magic. Neither had managed to learn it at all-mostly because they simply lacked Tris's energy, magical power, and perseverance.
Still, they knew a little about this branch of magic. They also knew that entering the shadow realm was difficult, and leaving it was harder still. Even someone who had mastered shadow magic would struggle to enter and leave another person's shadow realm.
Yet someone had just slipped in instantly and escaped with another person.
"No idea." Tris's face was thunderous.
Everything had happened too quickly.
After those twenty-odd Aurors arrived and he pulled Harry and the other two inside, he had stopped paying much attention to what was happening outside. Besides, there were quite a few people in the woods. He really would not notice one more or one fewer.
So when that person rushed into his shadow mirror world, grabbed someone, and fled, he had not reacted in time at all.
"Was it a Shadow Wizard?" Hermione asked.
Although Hermione was not as close to Tris as Harry and Ron were, she knew he was skilled in shadow magic and had some understanding of the shadow mirror world.
She had even secretly looked up information about it herself. Unfortunately, she had found no spellbooks on it at Hogwarts, or she might have tried practicing in secret too.
As for asking Tris directly, well, Hermione felt strangely awkward about it. She always felt that her grasp of basic magic lagged behind his. If she asked him how to learn other kinds of magic too, she feared people would say she was biting off more than she could chew.
"Probably..."
