"Hahaha, look at the state of her!" Tris pointed at Pheobe, whose hair had been badly singed, leaving her blackened and bedraggled, and roared with laughter.

Then his mother slapped him on the back of the head.

"She's a young girl risking her life to get a dragon egg. How can you laugh at her like that?" Molly demanded, glaring at him.

"Mom, I just risked my life to get a dragon egg too, you know?" Tris protested.

"You're a little hellion of a boy. That's different." Molly shot him another glare, making it clear that boys and girls were not equal in her book.

Fine. You're Mom, so you're right.

Tris knew better than to argue with his mother over this. At home, she spoiled Ginny especially rotten. Clearly, she had a soft spot for girls.

Come to think of it, the dragon egg task in the movie had only shown Harry, and even that had been a complete mess. He had led the dragon on a flight all over Hogwarts. If they actually pulled that shit, or allowed a blunder like that to happen, everyone in the Ministry of Magic might as well find a rope and hang themselves.

As for how the other four champions had handled it, the movie hadn't shown that at all. Pheobe, for instance, had actually danced to hypnotize her dragon-and it had fucking worked.

Dragons weren't particularly good at using magic, usually being limited to dragon breath and their intimidating aura. But their magic resistance should have been extremely high. For Pheobe to hypnotize one, even with the advantage of her Veela blood, was quite impressive.

Hmm, did she take off her robe to get the full effect of her dancing?

While Tris was pondering that, the third champion entered the arena.
