Letting your attention wander while fighting a wizard of Dumbledore's caliber was unquestionably foolish.
Voldemort's attention was diverted by Tris's blatant cheating, and Dumbledore seized the opening at once. With a swift flick of his wand, the space around the two of them began to warp.
Even Tris froze for a moment before noticing that the ground beneath Dumbledore and Voldemort had turned crystal clear. Evidently, Dumbledore had opened a mirror world beneath their feet at some point.
Dumbledore really was a wily old bastard. Tris needed a little preparation to open either the shadow realm or a mirror world, with a very obvious windup. Yet Dumbledore could open one without anyone noticing and pull Voldemort inside in an instant.
Tris had tried it himself. The exception was the special shadow mirror world opened with the Deluminator: it offered less control, but made pulling people inside easy.
Otherwise, whether it was the shadow realm or a mirror world, dragging a wizard inside was no easy feat. The stronger the wizard, the harder it became.
Voldemort was unquestionably an extremely powerful wizard, and Dumbledore did not currently have the Deluminator-even if he had, word magic would have prevented him from using it. Yet he had still pulled Voldemort into the mirror world in an instant.
Just as Tris was marveling at Dumbledore's mastery of magic, a palm-sized silver phoenix appeared out of thin air.
"Tris, now!" The little silver phoenix actually opened its beak and spoke in front of him.
"Ah... huh?" Tris was dumbfounded.
What the hell was going on?
Although he had never seen this little phoenix so small before, he still recognized what it was. It was Dumbledore's Patronus. Dumbledore possessed the wizarding world's only magical creature Patronus, making it highly distinctive.
But why could this thing talk?
