Snape took a deep breath, raised his arm, and traced a circle in the air with his wand.
Su Er was too far away to hear what spell Snape uttered, but the beam of light was exceptionally bright, searing hot, and thick.
The instant the spell shot out, the cat professor also released a translucent barrier.
With a thunderous boom, dust and rubble flew everywhere, obscuring Su Er's view.
Flitwick swiftly cleared away all the dust that had been thrown up.
As expected of a professor, Snape had blasted a large hole precisely where the Slytherin Statue's mouth was without blowing up the entire statue.
Su Er could not help giving him a thumbs-up. Clearly, Snape's control of his magic was extremely refined, and its power was tremendous too. He was very interested. If he went to Snape after they killed the basilisk, would Snape teach him? Though perhaps they could change where they aimed that spell next time.
Oh, there would not be a next time. There was only one Chamber of Secrets.
There was probably only one statue like this, too.
"Hiss..." A low, spine-chilling sound came from inside the hole. Its owner was clearly exceptionally angry.
A pair of eyes larger than basketballs appeared in the opening. Before it could even see the attackers who had roused it from its slumber, a sharp pain struck the eyes it was so proud of.
"Hiss... hiss..." Another series of explosive cracks rang out. The basilisk rolled about in unbearable pain, stirring up another great cloud of dust.
"Keep those eyes intact." Snape glided back some distance and called out loudly. Su Er did not even have to look to sense the excitement in his voice.
Wasn't pretty much every part of a basilisk useful for making potions?
