On the other side of Lily Street lay a gentle hillside, a spot Su Er had settled on after scouting the area the day before Christmas.
There was no other reason-it simply offered the best view of the fireworks.
"Where are these fireworks?" Hermione pulled her hand out of Su Er's and slipped it into her own pocket. The small part of her face left uncovered by her scarf was red, though whether from shyness or the wind was unclear.

"3."
"2."
"1."
Bang! A string of explosions rang out. "Whoosh... whoosh, whoosh..."
Beam after beam of light shot into the sky. Hermione opened her eyes in delighted surprise just as the lights reached their highest point and burst proudly into bloom. In an instant, "flowers" of every color blazed dazzlingly against the dark night sky.
Before the swaying trails of light dancing across the night sky had faded, more beams shot toward the heavens.
They burst again.
