"How strange. This is the first time I've seen Kreacher like this." Sirius walked over, took the box from Su Er, and examined it. He tried to pry it open with his hands, but its edges seemed rusted shut and would not budge.
There was also a layer of green rust obscuring the design on its surface.
Sirius soon lost interest and tossed it back to Su Er.
"It's just an ordinary box."
"I'm quite interested in it, actually. Could you give it to me?" Su Er was almost certain that this was one of Braised Egg's seven Horcruxes.
Although he did not know why the locket was here rather than in Kreacher's room, that no longer mattered.
"If you're interested, take it. I never saw it before I left here at sixteen. I'm guessing it's something my father found somewhere for his collection."
"Be careful. There might be something dangerous on it. You'd better let Alastor take a look."
Su Er nodded and put the locket in his pocket.
Clearing out the Black family's collection in the glass cabinets was clearly much easier than dealing with the Doxies. At around three, everyone left the drawing room. Apart from the writing desk that creaked and shook and the Black family tapestry hanging on the wall, the entire drawing room looked fresh and new.
When Sirius carried the bag downstairs, its contents clanked and rattled.
Ron held a music box. Speaking of that music box, it had caused a bit of a stir that afternoon. If someone wound the key on its back a few times, it played a tinkling tune that inexplicably made anyone who heard it weak and drowsy.
"Give it a turn at bedtime, and it'll really help you get to sleep!" Ron said.
