Su Er strongly suspected that Old Bumblebee knew his goal was to get Ravenclaw's Diadem intact.

Oh, there was no need to suspect anything. That sly old fox, Old Bumblebee, certainly knew what had been happening in Ravenclaw lately. After all, his eyes and ears were all over the Castle, and in his wisdom, he saw everything clearly.

Indeed, one blast of Fiendfyre could have settled the matter, yet Su Er had insisted on going to all that trouble to do something pointless-using a Dementor to suck out the soul. His intentions had been far too obvious.

Su Er lowered his head to look at the Diadem again. With Riddle no longer residing in it, the gemstone in the middle of the eagle had shed every trace of its lingering affliction and become crystal clear. Somehow, though, the gemstone gave Su Er a familiar feeling, as if he had seen a similar one somewhere before.

Whatever Old Bumblebee knew, at least he had no intention of stopping him.

All in all, the outcome had been pretty good.

The night passed uneventfully. The next day, in the Room of Requirement.

Hermione cheered and threw her arms around Su Er, excitedly planting a kiss on his cheek with a loud smack. Then she picked up the Diadem, her sparkling eyes fixed on the gemstone at its center.

"Is this really that Diadem?"

"Yes." Su Er nodded. A hint of amusement flashed through his eyes as he watched the excited Hermione, before he adopted an expression of lingering fear.

"It took me so much effort. I nearly got..."

Sure enough, Hermione looked nervous. She quickly put down the Diadem and bounded over to Su Er like a kitten, tugging at him as she looked him up and down.

"What? Are you all right?"
