"Heh, what a cruel question." Lies gave a hollow smile. "Unfortunately, the person I lost was someone of no importance."

John curled his lip. "Then you wouldn't be so obsessed with becoming Fate's lapdog."

"Lapdog sounds a little harsh," Lies protested. "It's called cooperation."

"Fine, cooperation." John shrugged. "You say your name is Lies, but I think you're very honest."

His gaze grew meaningful. "Ever since I first met you, you seem to have been eager to answer questions."

Lies opened his mouth, then finally said, "I told you I was honest."

"It could also be a curse, or a shackle Fate placed on you."

John seemed to have found Lies's weakness in that conversation riddled with falsehoods.

"Jonathan came from another world, just like you."

"He gained Godslayer Power through slaughter, while you became honest through lies."

"It seems Fate hasn't just made you its helper. It's made you its toy, too."

John flicked a finger, and the key flew up, gradually turning into flower petals.

"Fate always loves to toy with tragic lives."

The petals scattered before Lies.

Lies stared blankly at the key that had turned into petals.

"You did lie. About this key, for instance."

John slowly stood and walked toward Lies.

"Tell me how all this started."

Stopping, John stared at the face so similar to his own, curiosity in his eyes. "Why did all of you come here?"

"Why?" Lies leaned closer to John so he could see that face more clearly.

His eyes were nearly blind.

He might not even be able to make out his own reflection in a mirror.

Yet in John's pupils, he saw what he looked like now.

"Because of you, my dear Wizard King. Because of you, John."

Lies smiled.

"You're the one who caused all of this."
