Otto awoke from the darkness, waves of excruciating pain coursing through his body.
A jumble of information flooded his mind as well.
"Shut up..."
He couldn't help shouting. The voices in his head seemed frightened, and much of the chaotic noise faded away, though what remained still irritated him immensely.
He slowly opened his eyes to the sight of a luxurious carpet. The texture against his face told him it had to cost a fortune.
Where am I?
Otto was bewildered, but then he remembered his experiment-and the woman he loved.
The mechanical tentacles on his back propped him up.
Grief washed over his face, and he couldn't help crying out his beloved's name. "Rose!!"
"Stop shouting. Doctor Otto, come over and let's talk."
A voice came from behind him, startling Otto. He immediately turned around and saw that there were actually four other people in the room.
A young man was looking at him with a smile.
"Doctor Otto, come here!"
Otto frowned at Yang Bo, confusion on his face, then asked, "Who are you?"
Then his expression turned vicious. One of the mechanical tentacles on his back shot toward Yang Bo with astonishing speed, like a venomous snake striking at its prey.
Yang Bo didn't even blink.
The vicious mechanical tentacle froze in midair. Kaecilius walked over unhurriedly, reached out, and struck Doctor Otto in the chest with a tai chi pushing-hands move.
The seemingly gentle palm strike carried tremendous force. Doctor Otto's body hurtled backward uncontrollably and landed heavily on the carpet he had just risen from.
Unlike before, a pale blue soul now stood in the room. It was none other than a thoroughly bewildered Doctor Otto.
He stared at his body lying on the floor and couldn't help muttering, "Am I dead?"
*He'd killed me
