"Freeze! FBI!"
The door was kicked open, and several FBI agents rushed in and pinned down those inside who hadn't managed to escape. One of the officers found a large collection of disks in the house. He found a nearby computer and opened their contents.
The disks contained videos of various people being blackmailed, threatened into repaying their debts, and beaten.
Besides those, there was also plenty of information about their secret dealings with people in high places.
All told, over a hundred people were involved. They had cracked a major case this time. He had only taken pity on a man who had borrowed an enormous sum from an illegal lender, couldn't repay it, and had nearly done something desperate. He hadn't expected that helping him would expose such a massive criminal operation.
This happened to be the very lead his team had lost track of earlier. It looked like his bonus for the year was secured.
Officer Vito thought happily.
"Paul, this is the contract you signed back then. Listen, a contract signed under restraints on your personal freedom is invalid. You're safe now. Those people won't be threatening you anymore."
The man took the sheets of paper with trembling hands and immediately burst into tears.

The man named Paul wiped away his tears and tore up the unfair loan agreement he had signed himself. As he reflected on everything that had happened, he also felt utterly lost about his future.
