Night fell.
Unknown Island.
"Ultron actually ditched us and ran off on his own!!"
After waking up on the beach, Pietro angrily kicked a clump of sand out from under his feet. He was soaked through, his whole body shivering from the cold, but that did nothing to stop him from cursing Ultron with all his might.
Wanda looked terrible, too. An unnatural flush colored her pale face. Even sitting so close to the fire, she still couldn't get warm.
"Forget it. We should've known Ultron couldn't be trusted."
"Hmph. Who would've thought that smooth-talking Ultron would be even less useful than Wanderer?"
After venting his anger, Pietro plopped down beside Wanda, and the two warmed themselves by the fire.
"He saved us. Whatever else happened, we should thank him for that."
Wanda thought Wanderer was a decent person. In a life-or-death situation like that, he had still remembered to save them both. He was countless times better than Ultron, who had only cared about escaping himself.
"I never said I wouldn't thank him."
Pietro muttered under his breath, "Thanks. Thanks."
"There, see? I said it. Whether he heard me isn't my problem."
Wanda was about to speak when Wanderer descended from the sky and interrupted her.
"Oh my, sorry about that. My hearing is fairly good. I can even hear a certain someone's mosquito-like buzzing perfectly clearly."
Pietro flushed. He suddenly stood up and stared at Wanderer, stammering for ages without managing to get a single worthwhile word out.
"Enough. Shut your mouth and spare me any more nauseating thanks. Sit down and eat your fish."
Wanderer tossed the fish he had caught to Pietro, then stood off to one side with his arms folded.
"Thank..."
Wanda had just started thanking him when she remembered what he had said
