Susanna huddled beneath the reception desk in the lobby, trembling. Everyone had run outside when the aliens appeared, but she had happened to be in the restroom before it all began and missed her best chance to leave.
By the time she belatedly realized something was wrong, the disgusting aliens outside had smashed through the building's windows and entered the office lobby. Susanna watched helplessly as those monsters shot her coworker without hesitation.
Only minutes earlier, that coworker had been laughing and chatting with her about which restaurant to visit after work. Now their head had been severed from their body.
Holding her breath, she trembled as she stole a glance toward the west side of the reception desk. The lobby's partition doors were all glass, and their reflections gave her a clear view of the room.
That was also how she had managed to hide at the critical moment.
"Oh my God!"
Susanna pressed herself against the underside of the desk, covering her nose and mouth in terror. Several aliens were reflected in the glass, along with her dead coworker's staring eyes.
Those eyes were bloodshot. The shock, fear, unease, and helplessness still trapped within them made Susanna's heart clench, and images of death surfaced in her mind.
Susanna shrank back in fear. She had never imagined she would encounter anything so bloody.
As she trembled in terror, those demons suddenly turned toward her hiding place. Carrying metal spears, they approached her with hissing cries.
"Mmph..."
Susanna could no longer suppress the fear rising in her throat. Her legs shook uncontrollably as she crouched on the floor.
"Ah!"
The Chitauri had discovered the straggler hiding in the corner. They toyed with the despairing woman, surrounding her and pointing their weapons at her.
"No, no! Help!!"
Susanna's eyes went wide.
