Winter's enormous wings cast a vast shadow over Winterfell, like storm clouds closing in.
The sentries on the walls sounded the alarm at once.
The frantic tolling shattered the quiet of the northern morning, carrying a hint of panic.

Winter landed in the center of Winterfell's broad courtyard. As he folded his wings, the gusts they stirred sent the accumulated snow whirling through the air.
His enormous body almost filled the entire courtyard.
His interwoven ice-blue and silver-white scales gleamed with an ethereal sheen in the morning light.
Before the dragon had even settled, a small figure eagerly leaped from his back.
"Robb! Bran!"
Arya's voice rang clear as an icicle, filled with irrepressible joy.
The courtyard doors were flung open, and a tall, straight-backed young man rushed out.
He had thick auburn curls, and his blue eyes were full of anxiety and concern.
It was Robb Stark.
"Arya!"
When Robb recognized the figure racing toward him, he froze.
Brother and sister embraced each other tightly.
Lady Catelyn hurried out right behind him.
When she saw her youngest daughter safe and sound in Robb's arms, the eyes of Winterfell's strong-willed lady instantly reddened.
"My little Arya..."
Catelyn rushed forward and gathered both children into her arms, tears sliding silently down her cheeks.
With Maester Luwin's help, Bran rode his pony into the courtyard as well.
